MAKE DOOM 3 BETTERER!!! WITH MY REALLY GUD INFERNAL DEATH ORGY MOD!!!! FINELY TUNED ACTION, MORE DANGER, MORE KARNAGE, MORE DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!!! WITH AN IMPROVED VERSION OF MY OPTIONAL MATURE/IMMATURE LEWDICROUS PACK!!!!!!
(Note: Although the file may be labeled as version 2.3, this is actually version 2.0. Thus, the installation instructions remain as written below and in the installation video.)
- INTRODUCTION
Infernal Death Orgy (IDO) is a mod that improves Doom 3 in many ways. Here's how:
- Corrects some logical inconsistencies.
- Subtly adjusts many gameplay variables for better game balance and more fun!
- Modestly increases the overall challenge because vanilla Doom 3 was a relatively easy game.
- Alters and adjusts some particle and decal effects.
- Alters and adjusts some sounds.
- Includes a better menu which enables higher resolutions.
- Includes a cleaner HUD with a better weapons indicator and crosshair.
IDO doesn’t alter the atmosphere of Doom 3, so it’s appropriate for new players on the Easy and Normal difficulty settings. It's also appropriate for experienced players on Hard, and even for masterful players on Nightmare or with the optional TurboMonsters pack. As for me, I found it quite challenging on Hard, but eventually completed all the levels without quicksaving (since quicksaving is for noobs!).
This mod runs on a combination of the Dhewm3 source port (Dhewm3.org) and the gamex86.dll from Denton’s Enhanced Doom 3 version 2.02 (Moddb.com). This was necessary to improve stability, compatibility, and features, especially for folks using Radeon video cards (such as myself). It also incorporates content from some other mods.
Included with this mod is the optional Lewdicrous Pack, which does indeed alter the mood of Doom 3, but not the technical aspects of gameplay. This optional pack contains a whole bunch of juvenile humor and gratuitously excessive explicit language that will offend some people and make others pee their pants.
2. INSTALLATION
IDO v2.4 is practically identical to IDO v2.0, with the biggest difference being that it's now pre-packaged with the official 1.5.1 release of Dhewm3 - which makes installation quicker and easier.
1. Extract IDOv2.4.zip to C:\dhewm3 (this should create a new folder on your computer).
2. Presuming you got Doom 3 with Steam, do the following:
- Open the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Doom 3\base
- Highlight and copy the files pak000.pk4 through pak008.pk4 in that folder.
- Paste the copied files into your C:\dhewm3\base folder.
3. Open the C:\dhewm3\IDO\OPTIONAL GOODIES folder and copy or cut whichever optional paks you want and paste them into your C:\dhewm3\IDO folder.
• Pak 200_optional_IDO_Lewdicrous_Pack_2
Contains comedic content and gratuitously excessive explicit language that many folks will find silly, and some folks will find offensive. Many sounds were taken from Tourettes Guy videos at Youtube.com. Music featured throughout the campaign is by DVDA, Butt Trumpet, Psychostick, Charle Parra del Riego, Tenacious D, and Grant MacDonald.
• Pak201_optional_Dentonsounds
This pak offers alternative weapon sounds from Denton’s mod.
• Pak202_optional_corpses_stay
This pak prevents monster corpses from vanishing/burning away after they are terminated. Has the potential to cause problems if a corpse jams up an elevator or doorway, but this is a rather rare occurrence.
• Pak203_optional_TurboMonsters
This pak increases the speed of kombat oriented monster animations by 50%, thereby making monsters more furious.
• Pak204_optional_Overthinked_newpdas
This pak contains additional emails revealed with the PDA’s you collect during the campaign. Some of these emails implicate features of the Overthinked mod which are absent in IDO, and I didn’t take the time to read each one and remove the PDA’s that don’t make sense with IDO.
4. Run the game by running IDO.bat in your C:\dhewm3 folder.
More information is available in IDO readme (highly detailed).pdf file in the IDO\DOCUMENTS folder.
Hey there! This mod is fantastic! Does it work with Resurrection of Evil? Thanks!
