---------OLD-------

-Should there be a common color for the more generic Afghan units?

-Were there colors that only nobles used in India?

-Faction Colors

-Ahmednagar, Flag is White Background with a Dark Green Triangle, So white and green for the unit colors perhaps?
-Arguin, Flag is unknown?-they came from the Chagatai? so maybe just a modified version of that, White Background with a Yellow Square, so unit colors are white and yellow?
-Berar, Flag? Colors?
-Bengal Sultanate, White and Red?
-Bijapur, Flag? Colors?
-Delhi, Dark Green and Black
-Golconda, Flag is almost turquise in color, so turquise for units as well?
-Gujarat, flag is Red background with white crescent and star, so red and white?
-Mughals, Green and Yellow
-Marwar, Orange and Green?-or should that be for Marwar
-Malwa Sultanate, Flag is Red and White Bars, so red and white?
-Mewar, Orange and Red
-Mrauk-U, Flag/Colors?
-Orrisa, Colors?
-Tranvacore/Venad, Colors ?
-Vijayangara, Dark Yellow and Red?
-Zamourin, Flag/Colors?

Whoa!! even the mughal musketeers are accurate....they seem to be carrying a protective mantlet like the one at panipat....the musket units are a breath of fresh air and there's some variety, there are heavy gunners also......the mughal infantry and cavalry units are very similar to the ones from miniature paintings that i've seen......this is amazing!!.....even the elephant units are well done....now we need not use those overgrown timurid elephants that look totally out of place......the variety and artwork here is stunning....i never knew someone even cared to do something like this for an asian campaign.....how did something like this never materialise??

huzurat KingKorgoth
.....guys regarding discussion about the time period for the second campaign....this is just my opinion.....I understand playing the Marathas is the catch about wanting to leave a gap between 1619 and 1645....but there was a valid reason I suggested against it before as well

...its very simple....what I'm trying to convey here is that doing 1645-1745 means we have to deal with a whole variety of complexities that arise from the having to stick with the historicity of this period

The first problem here is starting with 1645 means the campaign ends in 1745 right??....in that case this period covers the age of lazy and merrymaking emperors i.e jalandar Shah, farrukisiyar and Muhammad Shah Rangeela.....the catch here is that all the important viceroys of the last powerful emperor Bahadur Shah Muazzam break away from the mughal empire and found their own independent states(even though on paper they still call themselves the viceroys of the emperor) and become Nawabs and nizam around the time Muhammad Shah comes to the throne in 1719.....the emperor's central hold weakened in the second decade of the 1700s,the sayyid brothers became major powerbrokers in the mughal court and the viceroys broke away and emperor became a puppet.....
So by script somehow we will have to simulate a disintegration in 1719 and what's worse create 3 additional factions
1)Nawabs of Oudh/Awadh
2)Nawabs of Bengal
3)Nizams of Hyderabad/Deccan
So creating 3 more factions, researching their symbolism, flags and then their roster is going to be a pain

The second problem here is....since this time period covers Nader Shah's invasion in 1738,our mod will also have to feature "Afsharid Empire" as an additional faction.....some more extra work.....plus to stay true to history before Nader Shah's rise to power in 1736,we have to also create the preceeding "Safavid Empire" also as a faction...both these factions held Kandahar and other outposts on the frontier, while Afsharids under Nader held as far as Kabul and for a brief time before restoring the territories to the Mughals, also conquered all the provinces till Delhi

Plus the third problem here is the said time period would feature Shivaji's rise to power as well as the peshwaite chapter of maratha history......the problem here is that Shivaji's kingdom even at the peak it's powers in 1680(when Shivaji died) didn't exceed a few hundred miles in breadth and length, while it grew to imperialistic proportions under peshwas during the early decades of the 1700s i.e somewhere around 1720s.....it will be a problem trying to implement both monarchy and puppet monarchy system for the same faction in the same mod.....

What I'm trying to say is that if at all it's worth going through all this pain, why not do it by choosing a certain time period wherein all the aforementioned successor factions start afresh.....like say start from 1721-1821 or 1736-1836 or 1761-1861(including 1857)...that way we cover all the chapters of nawab nizam & maratha dominance as well as colonial history

....instead keep the second campaign as it is from 1619-1719...not much changes in this campaign compared to the first campaign except for maybe sikhs and the British(but then the British are not that dominant enough to be a faction at all in this period of mughal dominance....so we can even ignore the British faction)

What do u say guys ????

Very well thought out! I'm in partial agreeance, A question though, if the main focus would be the expansion of Mughals further south (as this shows, Youtu.be) then why not just keep it as part of this mod and just add later scripted events/characters? (like Akbar, Jahangir, and Shah Jahan)
A 1600 submod would give the chance to start as a later more developed Mughal empire but it would be a lot of work to go through and update the settlements/characters for a mod that would play pretty similarly

Yeah we can make it a part of this mod and add later scripted events like u said....but what exactly do u mean by part of this mod?...are u going to decrease the turns per year ?? So we can cover 200 years??....or are u going to make a copy of the existing mod and just add later characters and scripts ?? And release it as a separate campaign....Even that would be fine...that is what I meant by nothing changes from the first campaign

No it’ll stay 2 turns a year for now so it would take 200 turns to go from 1519 to 1619, which is long but I think that’s ok since Ive read the mongols and timurids don’t show up till around 150 turns sometimes. The only emergent factions planned are suri/Mysore and the nayaks so Marathas Sikhs and brits would be added to a mid 1700s submod if I can get around to it.

Also KingKorgoth I wasn't suggesting doing 1619-1719 instead of mid 1700 campaign mod.....don't get me wrong....I was merely suggesting doing either one of them for now

KrishCN Oh, I wasn't sure if you would rather have a 1600 then 1700 mod. Of course empire total war covers the 1700s, but not very in-depth.

So would you be satisfied with the first mod, starting in 1519 and scripted events ending around 1700.
And then maybe a second mod starting around 1730-1737 and covering the marathan/british rise?

....so are u asking if I'm ok if the current mod starts in 1519 and ends in 1700??

Or somewhere around 1700 anyway, I'm pretty set on 1519 for the start though.
I just meant instead of the second campaign starting around 1600, it would start around 1730, since the 1600-1700 events would all be covered by the first campaign. Or would you rather have a 1600 start over a 1700?
You're free to use the map in any way if you wanted a campaign starting at a different time, I'd wait till I've got the terrain in a more finished state though so you don't have to do extra work

Yeah 1519-1700s odd for the present mod is fine...or till 1707(Aurangzeb's death)..or or better still 1719(this marks the end of mughal dominance and the begining of maratha power and the age of mughal successor states) is also fine
...i'd figure a 1600-1700 campaign is not worth a separate mod...it's better if we cover it in the present mod....200 years through 1519-1719 at 2 turns per year is actually decent ...should be fine??
....so let the second campaign be a mid 1700s mod like I said before....let's start the second campaign with a fresh start date for all successor states...like let it start somewhere from 1730s....or for that matter 1720-1820 is also fine, since it almost completes the chapter of british conquest of India(includes battles of Plassey1757,3rd battle of panipat1761,battle of buxar 1764,Mysore maratha wars, all 4 anglo Mysore wars and all anglo maratha wars as well as European conflicts as well....
.....we might as well ask what huzurat thinks of it too....what do u say guys do we all agree with this arrangement ??

Glad we can agree! We'll see what Huzurat thinks.
Based on that video, Youtube.com, although neglects to show the Rajputs or Garha as being independent, it looks like 1725 is the best, the Nizam of Hyderabad has just formed and if any more time passes the Marathans begin to take large parts of Mughal lands

.....while that video is historically true for most parts, not all depictions of empires are true....I had a look at it myself....like for e.g it showed the ghurids as well as ghaznavids(never actually succeeded in their invasion and most of them were plundering raids) overrunning India long before they actually did in 1192(Ghurids under ghori were the first to succeed in their invasion and it has been described as a landmark event by many Islamic chroniclers)....another mistake is that it shows mughal Conquest of Kashmir long after Akbar's death but in reality it happened during Akbar's reign.....it shows Mauryans under ashoka conquering whole of India which is wrong, actually he did rule the whole of India(except for south India), parts of Afghanistan,Pakistan and Bangladesh, but there is no credible evidence to suggest that Mauryans defeated and vassalised the south Indian moovendars(cholas, cheras and pandyas)...possible extent of ashoka's vast empire is reconstructed by historians only on the basis of the extent and distribution of ashoka's pillars and rock edicts.....so refer to some proper map, don't rely on these videos...not all are accurate

Some of my edits after going through the new mod map image.....

in 1725,the durrani empire doesn't exist yet....in 1725 Safavid Empire still reigns In Persia and northwestern frontier,in 1736 Nader Shah overthrows safavids and founds Afsharid empire...in 1747 Ahmed Shah abdali breaks away from Persia and starts ruling Afghanistan in his own name and founds the durrani empire....we might get into a big problem starting in 1725 with Safavid Empire and trying to script 2 extra emergent factions(Afsharids and durrani within a span of just 20years)
We could actually start from 1751 since there are many maps that depict faction boundaries accurately and we only need to create durranis faction..
However if the thrill to play bajirao is too much,we may keep 1725 only,it's fine

Ah I missed the Safavids, thanks. I haven't look into this time period much so I'm pretty ignorant of it, I just chose 1725 because much after that and the mughals and are a small country, I wanted the marathans and mughals to start off on more even ground. I'll think more about a possible start date though, I'll focus on the current one for now though

i think the kingdom of mysore was always present under the wodeyar dynasty. the sultanate of mysore began after the usurption of the throne by hyder ali.

I had them starting on the map so they could be playable but Huzurat suggested it should be emergent because they were vassals under Vijayanagar until declaring independence in 1565 after Talikota, but you are technically correct

would there be any way to add the 'urumi'? the warriors bearing urumi could have been used as beserker type units from rome 1. causing mass casualities in a short amount of time but i have no idea if it is possible to mod it in.

edit: Twcenter.net
this might work.

lionheartofengland It should be possible with a new animation, it would be a cool unit to include though

here are a few vids of people training with them:

and here is how they would have fought almost akin to beserker rage:
Youtube.com
it would be hard to implement but it would be an amazing unit to have - maybe one of the units restricted to the zamorin.

Twcenter.net
there might be something in here that might help.

animations tutorial i believe:
