Do you want to be able to play the mod but switch to the original game at any time?
Do you want to have multiple mods using this system installed?
Do you want a uninstall option (finally, yes, I know...)?
Then Improvement Mod 6 is for you!

Improvement Mod 6 Prototype
New installation system for more options and flexibility.

Did you nix the American civ? I was quite fond of them. They seemed pretty complete too.
Nope, they are still in the game. But because this is a prototype, it doesn't install the "My Documents" files the USA needs.
I can tell you how to do it though. Download this:
Moddb.com
But instead of "My Documents/My Games/Age of Empires 3/Savegame"
put it in
"My Documents/My Games/AoE3 Improvement Mod/Savegame"
(I'm talking about the 2 files from inside those folders)
That's all.
The final, official release of version 6 will include the USA civ files.
So uhm... I dunno if you've seen the latest screenshots but the American civ... Yeah, it is now possible to fully and completely add new civs into the game, completed with AIs and even homecity customization!
It will even work on ESO! Awesome stuff.
I will release an updated ImpMod 6 prototype with the newly integrated American civ this weekend.
Stay tuned!
Thanks, I figured that out shortly after posting. I had a backup of my user folder from a few days earlier so i just fished the homecity file out and it worked perfect. How will you be providing updates to the mod? Will there be separate downloads on this site or a patcher like you had before? I'm just curious.
Oh, it will be the same as before, with the patcher.
The problem is that the patcher needs to be modified to support the new system and I didn't made the patcher, a friend did, and he is unavailable to change it so... I'm just waiting.
There will be a version 6 installer release, of course, once everything is sorted out, especially the patcher.
IF it takes too long for the patcher to be modified I might simply release an installer version and... Dunno...
Taking decisions is hard man.
I understand. I had a link to your github for the old version... Do you have one for this new assemblage of the mod? If so, I'd rather have a link to a live-updating zip than a patcher. Never used the patcher at all anyhow. I'm a manual extraction kinda guy.
The Github link will be the same. I will repeat, right now this is a prototype and is only available through a zip file on the blog.
When version 6 is fully released it will be on the Github server (so it will replace everything that is there now), where the patcher connects to download (so you actually have no reason not to use the patcher, since it downloads the mod from the same place) and will have an installer.
