Hostile Intent: Phoenix Rising ("HIPR") is a multiplayer team-based tactical first-person shooter. It mixes themes of "realism" (in game mechanics) and "true-to-life" (in fine details) to immerse the player in intense, believable combat scenarios. It uses a flexible objective system that provides each team with specific goals to accomplish in order to complete their mission. HIPR takes direct inspiration from the games Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, and Operation: Flashpoint. Players take on the role of either a special forces operative ("Nato") or a fighter ("Tango"), and are tasked with certain mission objectives they need to accomplish within a time limit (one round of play) in order to win. These missions can take place in virtually any real-world location, from urban city streets to dense tropical environments to sandy deserts. The number of possible scenarios and mission objectives is similarly infinite. Players could be disabling radio...

Salutations!

It is with extreme pleasure that I announce the launch of our new website and forums! The forums have been upgraded to the latest version of IPB and we have a new skin to go along with it. For fans of the "classic" HI look, we will be updating that to fit the latest IPB skin templates. All in due time.

Finally HIPR has a dedicated Phoenix Rising website. For the longest time we've either had an HI one or none at all. We also have a new domain: hiprmod.net. The old hostileintent.org domain will still be active as well, but I would suggest updating bookmarks nonetheless.

There are so many things I want to talk about it will be hard to cram it all in one post. First off:

HIPR
The ever enigmatic Hostile Intent: Phoenix Rising is alive. I'm not going to lie: Back in November, we were in a total development vacuum. Aside from coding (for which MasterMind deserves many cookies), absolutely nothing was being done. And it had been that way for months and months. The team was not in a good place and there was a great deal of tension. Thankfully, the vast, vast majority of that has been resolved and we're now making progress in the art departments again. We also have a few new members on the team: Pampers, from Norway, who is working on an as-yet-unnamed map and is really waiting for me to get the darn SVN working; twanG, a local serf who contributed to the new website in a big way; and Kitteh, a modeler/skinner who will be collaborating with twanG on a remake of a certain HI map.

The HIPR Network
Great news: the Hostile Map Database is back! Special thanks to Afrow UK for putting that together. I'd also like to welcome 3rd Party Products to the HIPR network of sites! l1ake has done a phenomenal job getting screenshots and models together for you guys to download. There are even more sites on the way, so stay tuned for more community updates.

Want to work with the HIPR team?
As a community project, HIPR is always happy to receive an offer of help from anybody willing to contribute. At the moment we're looking for mappers in particular. If you have any experience doing Source engine mapping, HIPR has great programming support and we have a talented team of modelers, we'd love to hear from you. Get in touch with me at jobs@hiprmod.net.

Stay tuned...
Like I said, there's more coming this way very soon. With any luck, we should have a media update on HIPR sometime next week. I'd like to take this chance to thank the community for their support throughout this tough time in Hostile Intent history. Things are looking up! See you all in-game!
