The goal of this mod is to bring back the units from the original Homeworld into the Homeworld 2 engine, with high quality texture and polycount detail. The campaign and animatics from the original game will also be included.
I took a break from constant game crashing and keyboard punching and remastered another ship, the Taiidan research ship.
The docking of several ships would be very difficult or even impossible, so it can be built like this, or the different modules can be buildable subsystems that allow each for new research.
Nice!
Some of these actually look like a Space stations similar to those in space right now
Good idea about the module thing, maybe you could do a research ship for each kind of research, the research ship unlocks basic research, then you need to build different modules like one for weapon research, one for advanced droves(advanced engineering module)(the first research ship acts like a engineering module).
Like the Kuun Lan mosules actually, but this would require to much work, I would prefer that there's only one kind of research ship, no modules only research speedup like it works in HW, in HW2 it seems like you cannot make several researches at the same time but you can probably speed up the research like you can speed up construction.
Uuh, that's really a hard thing. I don't think that Homeworld 2 will ever have this feature.
But it looks great!
I recommend to use modules, which get constructed in time. With an unique animation showing how it get's constructed. Therefore a building limit of 1 ship, which can be upgraded.
A total of six research modules.
i Would love to have each module constructed at a time, but i don't think there can be anims for modules construction, for me it was always a great flaw in HW2 the subsystems just magically appear. Even Cataclysm add a build anim, were things fadded into exintence.
In other news, the research ship looks great. You have the connection points and overall shape different than in HW1.
I don't remember the correct shape, but for what i've seen on the shipyards it is there, i just added a lot more modules to it. Yes the connection points are wrong, Ir makes more sense to me that way, but i can fix it if people want me to.
I tried making it like on the concept, but i think it would be to spread out/random/organic, what do you think?
I don't mind a new shape, or a different number of ships. Taiidan research ships connect in a trigonal bipyramidal shape, probably inspired by 3D representations of complex chemicals. What I was commenting on is you've connected most ships head to head, where in HW1 they are all connected head to tail. Also the grey cylindrical peg slots into the connection points (The models intersect when docked). You have HW1, do a cpu vs human match and quickly build 6 research ships.
So... will it combine together like HW1 with the production of a number of research ships?
I agree modules would work nicely.
