First of all, I'm making this post under no special occassion. I just recently realized how fortunate it's been regarding HellStrike. For months development on the mod hasn't been very active lately. Most of the team have moved on to more important things and I've gotten busier over the years. But once in awhile I still see fans, old and new alike, show their support to the mod one way or the other. Everyday we still get downloads. Once in awhile someone features us on Youtube, or its Chinese equivalent, Bilibili. Us handfuls who are just messing around in the public Discord server. Or the occasional kind words here and there or just activity in the comments in general. They're not very many, but nonetheless important and appreciated, each and every one.
To all those who supported the mod, I say thank you to all of you. To the video creators on Youtube, big names and small channels especially, thank you for spreading the word of HellStrike's existence. To those who made suggestions and gave bug reports, I say thank you to each and everyone. To the critics, thank to everyone as well. It at least showed us our mod was good enough to be critiqued, but more importantly, revealed where our problems lie and improvements needed. To the naysayers of the past, thank you. Nothing motivates you better than someone saying you can't do it. To that one guy who sh!tposts on our Discord, he went by the username MK once, thanks to you, buddy. At least you liven up the place a bit. But do behave next time so you don't get kicked out anymore.
It's my first time doing something this big and people, all around the world, are taking notice. On behalf of the dev team, I thank you all.
TLDR: That's pretty much it. Thank you to eveyrone. We're still working on HellStrike albiet very slowly. I was hoping to release an update mid year, but things haven't been favorable so I at least would like to release one before the year ends. Wish me luck. Until then, Cheerio!...
It's a great mod, I think it's doing a good job, the only things that remind me of old CS 1.6 is the death animations, movement animations and maybe the map quality being limited to the engine, but I would still play de_dust2 with this mod, all the other maps are just a nice bonus to have.
I'm not sure if this mod supports traditional Team Death Match, but I think if it has this and people can play TDM with bots easily without having to download and install other things or join servers, it will be so cool.
Thanks mate. It does have TDM (hsdm_spawn_mode 1) but it would depend on the map as well if you don't extra objectives like bombs or hostages...
can i use other maps on this mod or maps will crach the game
Yes you can use other maps. Almost every CS map can be played with this mod, just not the really heavy ones...
Wait... This is still being worked on!? Aw hell yeah. Take all the time you need, this is a really awesome project and I'm glad the fire of the modding community still burns bright for these old games.
=D Yeah mate, it's still being developed, though very slowly these days. I hope to release something in a few months. You can get small incremental updates early on our Discord if you like. I might release one such update in a couple of days. Thanks for the kind words. Cheers!...
So what, after one more update the mod is dead?
No, I just want to at least do another release before the year ends. The whole roadmap's end point I pictured is still pretty far. But I also don't know how long I can keep developing it. Let's just say I'm not planning the next update to be the last but it's not a hard promise...
Don't let the mod die, you're better than that. Take some time off, clear your mind, have some time for yourself. Don't be harsh on yourself and take your time. But don't let this mod die. This is one of the best mods out there for CS 1.6 And you can start something with this mod.
Thank you. Yes, I'd like that. But it could mean continuing in this snail's pace. HellStrike won't be as popular. Then again, I never started this for popularity anyway...
