Yugoslav Events Thread - Hearts of Iron : Modern War for Hearts of Iron IV

Well, first and foremost I quickly wish to thank the developer team for continuing this great mod, but without further ado I'll get to my point.

I would like to help with historical events regarding Yugoslavia (later on Serbia and Montenegro). There should be some of the main ones that happened in real life, but I also think that there should be ones that are still a dream.

1st event - 5th of October 2000 - This is the day that the Yugoslav (mainly Serbian) people revolted against the rule of Slobodan Milošević. Back then, everyone was considered better than him and people generally wanted free elections. Nowadays (without me going further into politics) both Serbia and Montenegro have become de-facto puppets of the west and the 5th of October cleared the way for that. I guess that this event (unlike the one in HoI3 MW mod) should have two options:

1. Down with Milošević

2. Subjugate the people (with military)

(both of these names are just something that I used to fill the blanks and I hope that you'll be a bit more creative than me).

It would be fun if we could stick with Milošević's reign at a cost of national unity (which could be later on restored with either events or through the national focus tree). Bringing down Milošević would result in general elections being held and him being ousted while the new party leader for SPS would become Ivica Dačić.

2nd event - 2004 unrest in Kosovo (17-18 March 2004) - This is yet another event that was present in Hearts of Iron III Modern Warfare mod and it could be done much the same in this mod with two options being available

1. Let the UN handle it (peaceful one that increases your relations with the West, but decreases your national unity)

2. Bring in the troops (Kosovo becomes a state and you automatically declare war on them)

This event would be rather risky for the player as I'd like for you to program in a good chance of USA and NATO responding to the "aggression" by backing Kosovo up. It shouldn't be 100%, but I think a 60% chance of US/NATO intervention should be implemented.

3rd event - 2006 Montenegrin referendum (21 May 2006) - This is a rather picky topic as the referendum was barely passed and Montenegro gained it's independence with the help of the Albanian minorities that wanted to break free from Serbia at all costs. I think that this, just like all other events should be implemented with two choices:

1. We accept the results of the referendum (player gets a choice to continue as either Serbia or Montenegro)

2. Unity at all costs (you lose 10-15 national unity, but get to keep Montenegro as your province).

4th event - 2008 Kosovo declares independence (17 February 2008) - Another rather controversial topic as this "country" has not been legitimately recognized by majority of the UN members. This event should be bypassed if Yugoslavia managed to succumb Kosovo back in 2004 or if the Kosovo (alongside NATO and USA) already won it's independence. If these requirements are met the player should again have two choices.

1. Protest against the independence (the more peaceful and historic choice, player would get 10 national unity due to Serbs rallying at the flag of Serbdom being threatened again)

2. Kosovo is the heart of Serbia - Much like the send in the troops one, player automatically declares war on Kosovo and has a chance of dragging in the US/NATO. This time however, Russia should get better relations with Serbia and could possibly send volunteers if the major war against NATO happens.

That's it so far. I hope this helped you guys any. I know that you won't be able to implement a lot of this stuff mainly due to the limitations of the game, but I just wanted to show you what I think are the 4 main events regarding Yugoslavia. If you guys need help with making a custom focus tree for it (which I recommend you do as a lot of people from the Balkans check out Modern Day mods) I'd be glad to help. What you said really helped by a lot, and will be taken in consideration (wre might change certain names or such but overall your idea sounds doable), We would also like to thank you for your support and for mentioning us in your channel, which I personally liked and subscibed right away (I also suggest that in your next video,maybe you can talk about what's missing and what could be nice to see in a modern day mod ... etc )

Yeah....it's too bad that the mod starts in 2000....

Is it possible to make another starting point (much like in vanilla) that would start in 1990?

So that we might see the yugoslavia, and fight for it's survival or downfall (depending on which of the 6 republics we'd choose to side with)

Nice question tovarich, once we finish the 2000-2020 timeline we will start moving backwards in time, again this will done AFTER we finish the main timeline

Hello! Thank you alot Athelas for making this Thread. Saves me time! Well I will soon give my 2 cents and add some Bosnian Events that have happened throughout 2000 - 2016 The thing is not much has happened at all only Major Revolts, which might only affect National Unity or give (remove) Claims on Bosnian Land. Depends which descicion you make. And Algerian General, I'm sorry for not making any progress on the National Focus Trees for Yugoslav countries... But since Athelas is here, I would really love it if Athelas can check the National Focus Trees I'd make and or even coorporate with me. Well I hope you can expect a new Reply soon.
