Ham and Jam is a teamplay orientated, first person WW2 multiplayer game centred around the British and Commonwealth campaigns from 1939-45. Historically accurate missions coupled with careful balance between realistic and enjoyable gameplay makes Ham and Jam a unique experience. Ham and Jam started out as an idea between it's two main developers as an alternative to the tired old "U.S./Russia vs. Germany, post June 6th 1944" formulae WW2 games seem to use. Fed-up with everything prior to D-Day being ignored, the North West Europe theatre and the lack of British, Commonwealth and Free Forces they decided to do something about it. The goal was clear, to make a WW2 mod that featured all the missing bits of WW2 history, portray it in a historically accurate way but without detracting from the fun or playability by overdoing realism. In short the kind of game they and their friends would like to play. The name comes from the original code words for the capture of the Pegasus/Orne bridges

It’s come to that time of the summer where people go on holiday and as usual by pure chance both Jed and myself have managed to book our times off at the same time as other.

I’m off to the south of France for two weeks with my girlfriend and her family from 12th July to the 26th of July and will be gone from Monday to prepare down in Southampton. Jed meanwhile is hotfooting it like an escaped POW across Europe to get back to Blighty for his sisters wedding. He’s off for two weeks doing that starting tomorrow so there will be a lack of activity on our behalf for the next few weeks I’m afraid.

That said, its not all doom and gloom. We’ve managed to secure a dedicated beta testing server which has been kindly donated by Tront from the First Frag Gaming Community. Many thanks to him, we hope to start getting things rolling there when we return. Just don’t ask us if you can be on the beta team, we won’t pick you if you bother us…

Donations A big thanks to everyone who donated towards Ham and Jam over the past eight weeks. We just made it in the nick of time raising enough to secure our SVN hosting for another year and CVSDude were generous enough to provided us with a free upgrade giving us more storage and user accounts. Your generosity also enabled us to purchase another years worth of free upgrades to our forum software.

Again, a huge thank you to everyone who donated. Your generosity was beyond compare.

Development The maps have been slowly cooking over with gradual improvements to the general feel of Pegasus, the road materials are paths are now much more realistic. I’ve also been clipping the map to not make it a frustrating experience of banging into stuff. Radar has some new features in the form of an expanded hidden bunker complex, no more suicide runs up the hill (…you could still do it though) and a few little cubby holes to jump down.

Gold has been slowly tarted up and refined with its objectives, its a really special map to play and has the perfect blend of city fighting, CQB and long range engagement. Afrika has taken a back-seat due to some fundamental flaws with the layout that became apparent in testing, it’s being heavily reworked and may not be in the first release. This leaves a hole in our planned release map list which has been expertly filled by a new map by one of our “Cadets”, Albatross.

You may know him from his amazing DoD:S maps Stuttgart, Nuernberg, Soviets and Grafenstein. He’s currently working hard on a new map based around the city of Arnhem and you could say it’s a corker of a map. Pictures in next months update.

P.S We're not dead, we just forgot to update ModDB for a year! Always check the main site for the latest monthly news
