This mod consists of files that allow you to use mouse and keyboard as input for Half-Life Alyx. No it is not a remake, like I previously made, and instead is a mod for Half-Life Alyx!
Sadly, the best thing I can say for this mod is that it proves that Alyx will not work outside of VR.
I don't own a headset, I'm too poor for that and this mod gave me such hope to experience what other people have. But this is not the same experience. I can't even get past the globe puzzles in the game. Looking on You Tube, some people pointed this out to the mod author and he didn't even seem to know those puzzles existed. Almost as if he never actually played Alyx in VR before making the mod.
If that is the case, this mod will never be good. You should at least know how the original version of something works before you make a modification of it. Especially one that drastically changes the means of input.
Unfortunately it looks like Half Life Alyx playable with keyboard and mouse will require more than "just changing the controls" and that's a shame because I really wanted to play this game. I can't afford a headset, and I really wanted to play the next Half Life game. But it's still denied to me.

Having given this a go, I can't recommend it in it's current state. The game is simply not beatable with the mod in it's current state. If you are looking for this mod to magically turn Alyx into a pancake game you are in for disappointment. Even ignoring that you physically can't do many puzzles in order to progress, the controls are awful. This does not play like a normal FPS at all. The game is going to need serious re-designing, especially puzzles in order to work out of VR. And if you have to take out and replace huge segments of the game are you even playing the same game anymore?
