Half-Life: Metamorphosis is an expansion pack styled mod for Valve Software's science fiction first-person shooter video game Half-Life, in the vein of Half-Life: Blue Shift and Half-Life: Opposing Force. Half-Life: Metamorphosis follows data analyst Holly Byrne at the time of the Resonance Cascade.
The main antagonist of the mod has had a little bit of a facelift. These little snark-size aliens inhabit bipedal exo-suits, and slip through open portals to wage war wherever they can.
Pretty Interesting Concept.
Yeah, I am a lot more fond of this concept. The only suggestion I would throw on top of this is maybe some sort of alien weapon. Not like the bio weapons in HL and OpFor, but maybe some sort of high tech plasma weapon that shoots energy projectile stuff, something akin to a conventional machine gun, but with energy as the source of ammo. This weapon can be made pickup-able from dead reavers and can be used as any other firearm, but to make it more interesting in terms of gameplay, I'd say that the weapon shouldn't be effective against these foes, or the wearers as it were, but maybe only against aliens/humans...
Just me thinking out loud. :D
Definitely crossed my mind, energy weapons would be really cool but it would take some time to implement. Changing damage done to specific entities is entirely possible (the python on the hunters in ep 2 does extra damage for example) i'm just not entirely sure how Valve does it. As for ammo, I suppose it could use the depleted uranium the tau cannon uses, or something entirely new. Perhaps a charging mechanism where ammo slowly regenerates like the Hivehand? It's definitively doable but i'm going to have to look into it. Watch this space!
This concept is really funny, actually. It reminds me of a classic videogame villain.
Yeah, there is a definite silliness to these guys, they're a fun design in my opinion. I think they still match the tone of Half-Life though. (Did somebody say massive armoured testicle spider?!)
Wow, those NPCs are looking very great, can't wait to see them completing the Half life bestiary!
Decided to comment on this now.
That is one awesome idea... no words.
