Cold Shift is a mod which takes you back to Black Mesa during the resonance cascade in the style of Opposing Force and Blue Shift. Cold Shift has 9 chapters, 6 taking place in Black Mesa and the other three taking place in an abandoned arctic base which you are teleported to before leaving Black Mesa. You play as Andrew Smith, a 24 year old scientist who worked in Sector H Research and Development before the incident.

2019 (or 20BiTeen if you're like me) is upon us. Time for a comeback.

Yo. My mental health is still in complete shambles but I am more determined and inspired to design maps and further Cold Shift than I have been for...ages. I'm mapping as we speak and I am confident that I'll be going for a while.

Now because of how completely terrible my pc is, I'm not going to be uploading any gameplay videos...perhaps...ever. I feel that a crappy framerate and audio quality would distract a lot from the environments I'd be trying to show off.

The mod is around 10-15% done. Yeah I know that sounds bad considering I've been working on this since 2016 but I intend to speed up now and hopefully keep the momentum going at least until I can release a demo.

Also I'm planning to interchange developments of this and Mini Half-Life (so one day I'll work on Mini, the next I'll work on CS, etc.).

NintyFan out!

Hoping you get better this year, and I'm stoked to hear you are so motivated despite that c:

Ehhh, I'm kinda overexaggerating. It royally sucks but it's not HUGELY terrible now that I think about it. I'm not considering self-harm or anything like that, I still have a lot of things in life that make me happy, etc. I'll get through it eventually.

Look I didn't look into your mod or situation much but I skimmed through it and as a fellow creative human with my own mental shambles I couldn't resist just trying to see if I can hit a spot for you, if I'm way off your case just ignore this.

4 solutions

1. Just work on it on and off and take years, as long as it doesn't interfere with other stuff too much, who cares.

2. Reduce the scope of the mod, at least the first part. Divide the mod into a few parts, finish just the first part.

3. If you have trouble with focusing/concentrating/efficiency, basically if you suspect you have anything close to adhd/add at all try stimulants, if one doesn't work try another, if you suspect you have something else try meds for that. Seriously consider this because it can change lives.

4. Delegate your ideas (But if I know you and I think I do you're probably a control freak, either all or nothing type guy, it's fine)

Doing these types of heavy mods alone for fun is a mad concept my friend, well, mad people move the world, just try my ideas if you need help - or don't if you really truly are ok with things now.

Yo! Glad to hear that you're back. I'm no psychologist or whatever but I also think that focusing on this mod and maybe giving yourself the goal to finish it is a good way to heal yourself ! Keep it up my friend :)

Don't be hard on yourself, friend. It's still a one man mod. It is supposed to take a long time to create even 20%. You can't get something big done right in a flash.
