Cold Shift is a mod which takes you back to Black Mesa during the resonance cascade in the style of Opposing Force and Blue Shift. Cold Shift has 9 chapters, 6 taking place in Black Mesa and the other three taking place in an abandoned arctic base which you are teleported to before leaving Black Mesa. You play as Andrew Smith, a 24 year old scientist who worked in Sector H Research and Development before the incident.

Description

The iteration of Half-Life: Cold Shift worked on from April 2017 to January 2019 in all it's terrible glory.

i tried this out and I kind of agree in all its terrible glory part, I think I went through most to all the maps and many of them are not playable, the most playable one had a broken level trigger, I don't really know what I was expecting, but I have a question, why did you make the levels out of order, I see 2 Chapter 1's both with two different versions, a ch4, ch7 and some weird outdoor place with a truck, and some random offices where I spawned in flooded and one where I spawned in a corridor, and for some reason that truck level appeared again with the truck flying into a wall for some reason, I guess that was supposed to be a scripted sequence but you probably didn't finish it (either that or its a joke map). it doesn't matter I guess since this wont be finished but a part of me still cant feel just a bit disappointed since I was at least hoping for playable levels, sure lacking detail, but playable for at least a level or two, I guess this doesn't matter to being talking about this but eh, well this is my thoughts on the remains of Cold Shift.

JIMMY PENNIES MOD REVIEW

Well folks we finally got are hands on cold shift. Jack jarvis long anticipated mod following th pursuits of andrew smith (gordon freeman half brother) a scientist in the black mesa facility. jimmyPennies22 is here with the hands on review:

PRESENTATION:
now right off the bat you're gonna see the main menu, and it's just like the original half life main menu same background and all. simply classic design, brings back thsoe great memorys of playing half life 1 on my PC. 10/10 presentation

GAMEPLAY:
main thing holding this mod back is the maps aren't connected in seemingly any way. Had to use developer console (generally i hate cheating so minus points) to access the maps one by one. other than that... I see alien i shoot to kill. Classic so 8/10 gameplay.

STORY:
Not much to say here simply classic, you play as a scientist in black mesa, truely reliving the glory days as gordon freeman in black mesa. Love it 10/10 on the story

MAPPING:
A littel rough around the edges i gotta be honest. lots of issues with the scale and some questionable texture choices. But over all, theres enemys to blast back to hell and, baby jimmy loves that. Not to mention some levels have breakable vents and moving objects such as trucks to keep things fresh. 7/10 mapping

"THE PENNY FACTOR":
Some mods got it some mods dont and let me tell you- cold shift has all the intangibles. this is a mod thats just overflowing with confidence.. the disconnected maps invite you to experience cold shift in your own choice of order (great for multiple playthrough). not to mention the wide variety of gameplay (some maps have enemys and others dont to let you explore) and even the inclusion of some of the classic maps like one of the train sequence map from half life 1 for the nostalgia factor. all and all this is just an excellent love later to our favorite game half life 1. 10/10

OVERALL SCORE: 9/10 - Potential mod of the year
