When you watch a film on the movie screen from the comfort of your own home, you can not help but relate yourself to the people you see and the characters portrayed before your eyes. But the different situations that take place during a film, although sometimes effective, usually will not affect you emotionally. But when the film creates the emotion of fear and tension inside of you, things can change. And generally, it is fear that brings us closer to films than we sometimes would like to get.

Horror films are best at producing the feeling of fear inside us with what they can and do show on the screen. Portraying situations that we sometimes second guess whether or not it could happen in reality. They create atmosphere and suspense that can really create a sense of panic and terror better than anything else. This is what the Grim Cinema modification for the Half-Life 2 engine has been set out to do. To allow players to experience what it is like to be placed directly into a horror film and experience the fear and tension can usually broadcasts off the movie screen on your own PC.

Drawing inspiration from many of the classic modern horror films of our generation, Grim Cinema will use the environments, characters, and methods of various horror films to produce a terrifying and adrenaline-pumping experience for each and every one of the persons that dare to play it. Grim Cinema will feature environments that will be loaded with atmosphere that will mimic some of the most memorable locations from our favorite horror films. There will be plenty of places to hide and plenty of places to run. But this will not only benefit you, but you enemy as well.

The core gameplay focuses on the most basic instinctual need that every human being possesses: survival. Each player will either become the hunter or the hunted. At the beginning of each round, a random player will be selected to take on the role as the hunter and the rest of the players will do what ever it takes to survive against their enemy. Whether it is a knife-wielding masked murderer, a supernatural maniacal killer, or even a group of seemingly harmless dolls, each player will have to fend for themselves or as a group in order to survive. Is it wiser to go off alone and stay out of sight? Or would it be a better decision to band together and fight? The choice it yours, but don’t let it be your last.

The following is the breakdown of the two types of roles that you can take on in Grim Cinema.

The Hunters:
One player at the beginning of each round will be selected to play as the Hunter. They will assume the role as the villain from that particular scenario. One map may call for a relentless campgrounds killer, while another may offer a better environment for a stealthy slasher. And although you will not able to choose who exactly you play as during that scenario, you will get to experience that characters special abilities and strengths. Your primary goal will be to seek out and eliminate all characters of the Hunted team by any means necessary. Stick to the shadows or pursue them without haste; whatever it takes to get the job done.

The Hunted:
Every other player that is left after the Hunter has been selected will become a member of the Hunted team. Each player will be given the option to select to play as a character that they would like to take on the role of. Would you like to be the fast yet weak female lead? Or is the nerdy, better equipped male more of your style? Whatever you choose, each member of the hunted team will have its own strengths and weaknesses. Also, because most horror films of today do not feature heavy weaponry, the hunters will only have access to melee and small firearms to defend themselves. The primary goal of the hunted will be to survive long enough to destroy their enemy. And sometimes, destroying your enemy may be a little bit more difficult than you may think.

The Grim Cinema modification is being created for the all of the fans of horror films that have be waiting for a gaming experience that actually puts them in the middle of their favorite horror films. The developers know what the fans would like to see but we are always open to any and all ideas and suggestions that could help make this mod better. Feel free to become a member of our community and help support this great effort. Grim Cinema will be loaded with completely custom content provided our dedicated staff, it have a look all its own and be like nothing you’ve ever experienced before!

I dont think this a mod FreeMan551, it says cinema at the title (which referes to a movie) sooo, this must be a team working on movies made out of HL2, but this a movie community right? so shouldnt this be moved to the group section or some thing?
