Welcome to Half-Life 2: Genetic Variation, a mod where you play as a Combine-modified Headcrab. The Resistance is threatened by the surplus of the new crabs, but when modifying you, they made a huge mistake without knowing, causing you to become a smart and sentient Headcrab. Your job is unknown until later into the game. The Combine plan on releasing hundreds of shellers full of these new Headcrabs out into bases. You have to work together with humans to stop the evil force.
The very first concept for the Combine Crab. We thought some parts were not supposed to be there. It looks too modified and we thought it'd be good f the modifications were subtle, rather than all around. It looks kind of like an Antlion and we removed the eyes, due to them being really useless, as Headcrabs have 6 eyes and the Combine can monitor behavior anyway.
It actually looks like a beettle.
Very nice concepts! I really like them, good work! Let's see:
-No, it doesn't look too armored. It looks exactly how a Combine modified headcrab would look like.
-I prefer the Strider/Gunship logo over the other one.
-It looks a lot better without the blue eyes.
-And maybe add some bluish spots/cables (like the color of the eyes) to make it look more high-tech/Combine-ish?
