Gekokujo is a mod for Mount and Blade Warband set in the Sengoku period of Japan. The name is a term often translated as "the low-ranked taking over from the high" and was chosen because it was a running theme during that era: Oda Nobunaga descended from a clan of deputies to the nominal governor of their province, but the Oda usurped them and toppled their neighbors; Toyotomi Hideyoshi began his career as a cook and sandal bearer and ended up the ruler of Japan; Tokugawa Ieyasu was an upstart who probably fabricated a claim of descent from the Minamoto clan--the only ones allowed to be granted the title of Shogun. As a player of Gekokujo, you will start from nothing and attempt to gain control of the entire country, making the title fitting.

Description

This is the mod Gekokujo v3.0, the latest full version, for Mount & Blade: Warband v1.158. The file itself is a self-extracting installer that should detect your Warband installation

There's a changelog in the readme of the installer and the forum link at the top of the summary page. I'll make a news update with the changelog right now, actually

I am able to play custom games but when I click to start a new campaign, the game crashes. Anyone help? The custom battles are awesome though

It just takes a long time to start a new game, unfortunately, because of all the factions. I suggest starting a new game while in windowed mode, to allow you to do something else while waiting, then after creating your character you can save it and restore full-screen mode -- starting a new game takes a long time but loading an existing save is as quick as regular mount and blade.

What happened to the town of Yamada? Was it removed?

Yeah, and Tsu (nearby) was upgraded to a town. It turns out Yamada was more important *before* and *after* the Sengoku, but that Tsu was more important *during* the sengoku

I've found a bug. On the ranged training on the training field, you are suppose to get 10 arrow, but instead I get 30. In order to finish, I need to empty your quiver of arrows. So I get 10 targets and 30 arrows, then 20 extra arrows to waste if I want to finish the training. I would be happy if you could fix that. Also, I only restarted playing mount and blade warband because of this mod. Thanks man, awesome mod.

._. Not sure if this is related to the mod? Or i'm doing something wrong. NSIS Error. What's the solution? "Installer Integrity check has failed."

Beautiful mod! I like the many level castles. Exploring the variations in top-tiered troops among the clans.

Wish I had a shield!

Could you implement the option to kill lords or is it already in ?

And will this simply delete my old Gekokoju folder or do I have to delete it manualy .

without there being 'births' and new characters generated periodically , killable characters would eventually result in you being the only character alive meaning there'd be no other armies/leaders .

so..basically it'd be like some other strategy games where eventually you'd be the only 'general' left with noone to attack or defend against.

I like how you included an installer, not because i can't figure it out by myself, but it just makes it easier.
I just got this mod recommended to me by a friend, and i'm looking forward to it. Expect a review with my honest thoughts. But as a fan of the time period and all, i'm sure it will be positive;)
