My grandfather was a Master Sergeant over the railways in Italy during WWII. A family story related that as he was coming home, the ship he was on was bombed, but he arrived home alright.

War is an unnecessary evil, which springs from selfishness and false pride. The true tragedy is that other people have to suffer because of the pride and selfishness of a few fellow humans with serious issues.

I honor all of those who served in the WWII, both Allies and Axis. There were many on the Axis side who did not agree with their leaders, and who only wanted to live in peace, but who were conscripted and died in defense of their homes and families, just as those on the Allied side did.

In every war, it is the innocent who suffer the most, while those who cause the conflicts care only for their own desires and of whether or not the ultimate outcome gives them what they desire.

Truly, our planet's history is nothing to boast of.

One of my relatives fought for the Canadian army. This is strange because my family is from Texas and my relatives fought in the Civil War. :)

Description

Today September 2, in 1945 70 years ago World War II, the bloodiest conflict in human history came to a end. Although the war in Europe ended in May 8th, 1945, Japan continued to fight on. After two Atomic Bombs were dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. During the entirety of World War II an estimated 70-85 million people were killed the majority of them being Civilians. The Allies composed of American, English. French, USSR including all other countries that lost brave men during the terrible war deserve all the respect. Lets have a moment of silence to respect everyone who died during the war.
