Today is 9 may and we traditionally send this post.
Today marks the 72nd anniversary of the Great Patriotic War. The 9th of May is a special day for all Russian people. This is Victory Day. This is the day when the Great Patriotic War finished (this is how they call in Russia the World War II).
For the Soviet Union, the war started on the 22nd of June 1941. A day before, on the 21st of June, in all schools of the country there was a party - the last school ball. Girls and boys had just finished school. They were dancing, dreaming of the future and did not know that the following day, they would go to war and never come home again.
For the Soviet Union the war lasted for 4 years. It was a very hard time for everyone. In many cities and villages there was starvation. USSR lost over 20 million people in the war. But they won and became heroes to every Russian person.
Victory day is about remembering those who gave their lives to achieve the victory and honors the bravery of Russian soldiers, France soldiers, Britain soldiers, the United States and other countries Europe. And Russian people on the whole whose heroism saved the country from Nazi invaders.
The holiday marks the capitulation of Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union in the Second World War in 1945. Unlike Europe where it is celebrated on May 8, Victory Day in Russia is celebrated on May 9 as Germany’s surrender was signed late in the evening on May 8, 1945 when it was already May 9 in Russia.
A minute of silence those who gave their lives in this war...
Comrade, no politics please.
Cool :)
I'm joining the celebration!
Happy Victory Day to all Russian comrades

I do have a question though, couldn't you have just said happy VE day without everything Russian? There is a large diversity of countries who fought in this war, which you barely hint at. You simply could have just wished all the countries a good holiday, though instead you turn it Russian, and Russian pride. I am aware that you are Russian and patriotic though comments that you made such as: "The holiday marks the capitulation of Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union in the Second World War in 1945" are quite displeasing. I am also aware that you stated that you wished for no politics, though the image you used along with your description almost begs a political discussion over this matter.
Doesn't mean he wants a discussion about it though. I show things that look political all the time but refuse to have actual discussions about those things. Sometimes I just want others to see and leave it at that.

He may not want a discussion, nevertheless, I said what I said.
Well, congrats then?
