Freeworlds: Tides of War is a fan built Star Wars total conversion mod for Digital Anvil's Freelancer game that was released several years ago. When fans began to make mods for Freelancer, one of the many things people were keen on seeing was a Freelancer mod based on the Star Wars universe developed by George Lucas. Freeworlds and Tides of War were the answer to this outcry. The development team of both mods have now joined forces to create an epic new Star Wars TC, Freeworlds: Tides of War.

The asteroid field is downright amazing, particularly for the Freelancer engine. In the words of Darth Vader: "Most impressive." ;)

Reminds me of Episode 5, The part where the MF is trying to lose the imps in the Asteroid field, I just imagine flying a YT-1300 through one of these with a bunch of TIEs on my tail.....

Quick question: Will TIEs still crumple like tin cans when they hit an asteroid like in Mentioned movie.....

I actually plan to create this mission with the MF and the TIEs. So far, due to the limitations of the Freelancer engine, most of these asteroids are not dangerous as you can't give them mass (they'll just bounce on you, or make you change direction). However, we're working on a way to fix that.

I'm playing this battle with my laptop. It's an Asus G51J (i7 quadcore, GTX 260M, 4 Gb RAM). However, you should be able to run the game quite well with an older computer as i was running the Server and Fraps on the same machine, and still got 40-60 FPS.

Looks great but some of the asteroids look like they're zipping around a bit to much.

yeah it is looking cool and i agree i does seem like they moving a bit to fast maybe if it was toned back the speed about 30-35% it would be a bit better in my opinion.

Yeah, some might be a bit too crazy, however it does create a wildly challenging environment. Regardless, simply amazing...
