repaint civilians Thread - FarCry Operation Clearing mod for Far Cry

this is a step by step for beginners only!
i'll concentrate myself here on valerie and player model (which i will use in city as NPC models.

first step:
extract this package to farcry.
Reflex-studio-storage.com

now you find two new folders:
farcy/objects/characters/story/valerie
farcy/objects/characters/pmodels/hero
it should look like this! be sure or you won't see your created textures on model!

doubbleclick now on
farcy/objects/characters/pmodels/hero/hero_withoutjacket.cgf
hold right mouse button to move object in z achsis.

some short time later the editor viewer of farcry will appear and show you the jack model.
cgf as file ending means: its a 3D modell.
you will also find some files with the ending dds. those files are images, like jpg's or bmp's.

cgf models only could be painted with those dds files. as you can see i already have repainted thehero_shirt_body.dds
with a yellow piece symbol.
if you open this with Photoshop (deactivate the "load mipmap" button if a window with that question appear), you can easy repaint this shirt.

it should now look like this:

now save your new creation, you have to overwrite the file,

now again doubbleclick now on
farcy/objects/characters/pmodels/hero/hero_withoutjacket.cgf
and this is the result

note that valerie does not have own leg textures like the hero!

now, if you have a good looking set of clothes, do a screenshot and copy this set to a folder of your choose, so you can do the same procedure for a new set of clothes.

(for advanced modders: in editor now you can give different models different clothes with the material editor, you just have to select the folder and dds files of your copy folder. (farcry/mods/yourmod/textures/clothes/vX/... would be wise for example)

yourphotoshop\Plug-Ins\File Formats\

maybe you shold have a look in the dds photoshop plugin to get more informations how to properly install it.

pvcf - Problem, I don't have photoshop nor any plugins for it. It's way too expensive to buy, I've tried downloading through torrents but you only end up with viruses on the computer, happens a lot on torrents so i'm not willing to go there. Is there any other programs you can work with that I could do this with? What about paint.net for example - I do have that.

Let me know, because I'd really love to help you - I'm quite looking forward to the challenge of it.

i know many other uses paint net, so why do you not try it
maybe you have to download the dds importer plugin, i did not know. just try to load a dds image file in paint net
