It had a very low impact (on an old PC) but on new PC It has a medium impact (with enb It had a huge impact). I'm having about 200fps (with SweetFx I'm having about 160fps or 180fps) but I'm not sure how exactly it will impact your PC.

Installation is very easy.

1. You need to download SweetFX 1.4: Sfx.thelazy.net

2. Then download some presets: Sfx.thelazy.net (You can download any preset from any game but its better to download a preset where you have some comparison.)

3. Unzip files from SweetFX 1.4 (to bin32 in Far Cry 1 folder) and add preset which you download from Sfx.thelazy.net

4. Play!

I wanted to record a video but Action! doesn't support SweetFx and Fraps is not a good program because it takes too much fps (from 180 to 40 or even 20 fps) and I haven't even mention that laggs which are totally terrible.

try MSI Afterburner with this settings:

Thanks! I try that.

Well it still isn't good enough. From 220 fps (Vanilla game + SweetFx) I have only 30 (Also I have framerate limit 120fps) which isn't a big problem but it has laggs like fraps (not so big but its still a huge problem).

hmm, how many cores do you have? its also usefull to let this program run on other cores than the one farcry core. and maybe you have limited the recording framerate to 30, so you have then in game also 30 fps max during recording.

Dam! Now I feel really stupid. I have still been recording with fraps (I was used to a Fraps for a long time) but I wasn't aware of MSI recording and I was using the same key for Fraps and MSI. So I have to now say that MSI afterburner is probably the best recording software (mainly because no fps loss) and it can record SweetFX instead of Action! (product by Mirillis). I have to compare them more so I could be sure that MSI afterburner is better.

Btw: Also I have framerate limit 120fps

keep also in mind that MSI afterburner does not work correct with a running ATI traytools, if you use it. i always have temporarily to close ATI tray tools.

Sep 19 2015 Anchor

No I'm not using ATI tray tools because I think they suck (Radeon Pro is much better). Nvidia definitely is much better in this (they have special settings for every game) but after the Gtx 970 fiasco I don't want to buy their cards.

atleat ATI try tool is the onliest one program i found which support different desktop colors of my two TFT's with shortkeys.

but just for interest, why did you think this program suck ?

Sep 19 2015 Anchor

I have one main reason and that is it doesn't have special Application setting. If I want to set ultra graphic for some old game (Far Cry 1, Mafia, Max Payne and so on) I have to manually add that program and If you have about 180 games then it becomes a problem. If I set ultra graphic for all application and I would forget on that and I would play Crysis 1 then I could refund my graphic card.

Btw: what is TFT's? It is some LCD display?

TFT stands for Thin film Transistor and is the correct word for LCD ;)

Thanks for info!

So after creating about 10 videos and selecting which one I upload I realize that MSI afterburner doesn't support SweetFx too so I was searching for tutorials which explained how to enable SweeFX support for MSI afterburner. Unfortunately they are all the same and the problem which I'm having is that I don't have an option called (Enable compatibility with modified Direct3D runtime libraries) so I'm afraid that I will not create video for this. I have to ask the creator of the SweetFx for this thing but I don't know if he will have a time for this.

i think you run into the same trap i'm last time with sceenshots, Moddb.com
i think maybe a desktop recorder /screencam could maybe record it but those programs are mostly very CPU hungry ;(

Sep 22 2015 Anchor

Well the problem is that I can't record that (which is a pity) but MSI is still amazing program (Action! also,) but programs like Fraps are very CPU hungry and even if it is very easy program to use I don't understand how they are still in the business. Also, I still don't understand how can somebody record videos in 60fps without problem with their product.

So here is Far Cry 1 with SweetFX: Youtube.com

It looks definitely much better in game. It is because this footage have to be lowered and it has almost two gigabytes which is too big file.

>It looks definitely much better in game.

yeah, thats mostly the case in FarCry recordings. btw your setrings here looks like a little bit farcry's cold renderer.

I think I used Improved rendering and it could look like Cold render in the game but with much more color.
