Had mixed feelings about the first 2 chapters but it got better later on and it was intense. Uprising adds a lot to Entropy Zero's story and to the Half-Life universe. Can't wait for Episode 2.

"Don't drink the water! They put something in it to make you forget!" - Random Citizen

That's pretty much of gist of this mod as this marks the new era of EZ mods. With that said, this mod is surprisingly darker than the rest as they're two endings which determines outcome of your protagonist's storyline. It starts off slow but then it gets better as it goes along. The APC battle is definitely the highlight and this is just Episode 1. Makes me wonder how Episode 2 will up the ante.

P.S. I made a video that I discovered first-hand an easter egg. This contains spoilers so watch it at your own risk.

I got what I wanted to get. While Entropy:Zero 1 and 2 are mods about a bad guy that decides the fate of the world (which is also great btw), Entropy:Zero Uprising is a mod about simple metrocop who is just doing his work. And that's fantastic. You finally can explore the Half-Life 2 universe from an different angle. From an angle of cops that are not just targets for shooting, but people with their personal problems. Sure thing great mapping, balance, dialogues, etc. Fantastic work, can't wait for episode 2.

nice level design, the campaign could have used a little more shield pickups(I played on hard so probably why I only hit the shield cap once) and grenades(mostly used the normal nades not slams), the shotgun was implemented quite late but alas I can live with it,

Spoiler
the water shield pcv upgrade never reached its true potential due the lack of shield recharge packs and stations.
I liked the "holdout" sections where you are tasked with surviving against a horde of zombies or rebels, if you want to implement slams, give the player a few before they start the wave, maybe an exploding barrel or two to be placed,

Overall would recommend, I really liked it

A solid addition to Half-Life 2's extensive mod library, Entropy Zero - Uprising hits more often than it misses. Although a bit lacking at the start, which feels more like a basic map pack than a true mod - the game picks up as you get through its chapters quite well. While I felt the mod's story was a little lacking, what is there is done well enough to keep you invested in no small part thanks to BEC and Bloody Cop, who are enjoyable characters to be alongside. They are both written enjoyably and their voice actors gave solid performances (although given the Civil Protection vocoder effect, it may be hard for me to truly judge that lol). The terminal operator cop was also decent, though he's only really active in 3 parts of the game, two of which involve the player character leaving his company rather quickly.

I will say that a few gameplay sections felt a little off. In particular, defending the terminal operator cop while he's trying to send data - the map is set up in a way that it suggests you'll want to stay on top of a Combine guard posts, but with Rebels coming from multiple directions and the other cops only staying on one guard post, it quickly devolved into me sitting near the terminal operator to kill rebels as they came through the other two areas, with the odd rebel getting through the main guard post.

As well, the holdout sequence with BEC against zombies *and* rebels felt a bit much. The zombies were mainly (possibly only) fast zombies, which when you're trying to fight rebels who are shooting at you can easily get a few cheap hits in - not to mention BEC's durability. I found my attention divided between ensuring BEC's survival, my own, gunning down rebels and trying to kill fast zombies before they could get too close.

Those gripes aside, the gameplay is what you'd expect from Entropy Zero. It's decent enough, even though I kind of wish there'd be more unique takes on Civil Protection/Combine Soldier gameplay.

If there's one thing I hope for, it's that in the future, if the team has the time, that Day 1 and Day 2 of the Uprising are given an overhaul. They aren't *bad*, but they are barebones in comparison to ensuing days.

All in all, Entropy Zero - Uprising is a good Civil Protection mod, and I'd recommend it. I'm looking forward to seeing what the team does with this project!
