Dystopia is a is a total conversion of the Source Engine that places players into tense combat situations in a high-tech world spanned by computer networks. As Punks or Corporate Mercenaries, players will fight through the physical world to gain access, via Jack-in Points, to cyberspace. Cyberspace is a three dimensonal representation of the world's network. In cyberspace, players must fight off enemy hackers and launch programs to gain control of critical systems and to affect the physical world. Gameplay progresses through inter-linked physical and cyberspace objectives, and players must work together to achieve victory for their team. Players will be immersed in action-packed battles, whether as a heavily augmented combat mercenary armed to the teeth with the latest in firepower and cybernetic implants, or as a twitch-reflex cyberdecker racing to infiltrate a cyberspace node.

Today Dystopia was pimped again in Valve's steam news update. This kicked the team into over drive to put the finishing touches on the teaser video. The 1 minute of purely in game video shows off our special flavour of cyberpunk action. This video was created from demos recorded during our nightly playtest sessions and features a backing track created by our very own Graincloud.

We're confident that after watching the video you'll have a good idea of what Dystopia is all about. It includes footage of nearly every implant and weapon as well as footage from both the Real World and CyberSpace areas of Dystopia.

The video is encoded with bink, which means there's no hassle with codecs. It's 24 meg zipped up. You can download dystopia_teaser.zip from HL2Files.com.

Here's a couple of shots from the video to check out while you're waiting for the download to finish:

looks very cool.

Just one thing I noticed, in the infrared/heat view, the weapons shouldnt be colored they should be pretty much blue (with some slight heat after fired). Otherwise amazing job, keep it up !

Modding isn't a competition; you don't mod to be better than someone else.

Mediocore in my own words, but hey it's shown more custom true modded work out of anyone modding for half life 2 so far. I acknowledge the teamworkd they've done together in their development. And what's important is to never let that stop. Or else chances are your mod will.

Mediocore in my own words

Mediocore, ha! That's like calling World War 1 a minor skirmish.

Maybe you didn't read the entire post. Mediocore i give it because the the quality is a bit sketchy in the footage. Besides it's a futuristic senario setting modification. And i'm not a person of futuristic FPS or games in general. So either way they recieved my compliments.

hey guyz in one shot it seemed that a corridor in cyberworld was bent upwards. so I wonder: does it mean that there'll be sort of "relative" gravitation, based on "floor". I think this'd fit the entire idea of cyberworld. anyway it loox great :)

the physics in cyberspace are a cross between quake 1 airmovement/bunnyhopping and escher's relativity eg.

personaly i think most mod teams could achieve the same quality level if they had as mich promotion as the dystopia mod

mainly from the likes of valve, but that has only set off a reaction from other premotors
