cloaking behavior:

- cloaking has real cloaking visual effect.
- monster can still sense player, but will not attack, standing there.
- Already alerted enemy knows player position then cloaking lose effectiveness.
- cloaking walk half speed to remove footstep sound, run speed is disabled
- firing weapon disable cloaking, except fists and hand grenade
- cloaking disable weapon laser sight
- cloaking disable when soulcube or chainsaw is selected.
- cloaking is mainly for scouting and first attack, not evading or in the heat of fight.


Night vision mode for helmet visor.

Unlimted battery but severe peripheral vision limitation. This is achieved externally with 4 reshade shaders together (night vision + eye adaption + vignette + curves (off)). Night vision can coexist with slow mo mode, unlike flashlight. Night vision is better than flash light in term of not using precious battery.


Mod installation

DOOM3 BFG Super Soldier is mainly a game play mod. It is on top of the much needed HiDef graphics mod.


A) Requirement
DOOM3 BFG
DOOM3 BFG HiDef mod v2.7 (It is based on RBDOOM3BFG, greatly improved graphics baseline , such as shadow, lighting, HDR, and HD model and textures, FX etc). Moddb.com. Please use v2.7 as my mod is developed on top of 2.7.

B) Disclaimer
* Big credits to authors of HiDef mod and RBDOOM3BFG. Also big thanks to Id Software for releasing source code that make the mod possible.
* This mod is my sole hobby effort and it is totally free.
* The mod works well in my PC. If you encounter any problem in your environment, please make sure HiDef 2.7 works first. There may be some help for HiDef' own website.

C) (Easy) Installation steps:

1) Recommend backup your whole game directory.
2) On top of HiDef installation, overwrite with my mod’s files.
4) The folder base/sound/prozo seems missing in HiDef installation. Copy it from ultimate mod Moddb.com
5) As with most mods, it will not work with existing game saves. Start new game or load new maps.
6) After start game, go to GUI menu to configure your keyboard controls. For your reference, following is my keyboard layout:

D) There are 13 new key control needs to configured for the mod from the GUI. Two options from game settings GUI. Following are my own layout as reference.

1. Ability group

Q - cloak
E - time freeze
mouse 3 - HellTime
mouse 2 - Bullet time

2. Equipment group

Z - zoom
V - rear view camera
G - night vision (Reshade)
B - sentry bot

3. Misc group

Backspace - skip or add back to mouse wheel weapon list
H - Show Ammo (hold)
C - wipe HUD

4. Photo mode group

X - photo mode
/ - in photo mode slow motion (hold)

5. Game setting options

Enable/Disable Gib Gore Stay
0 - 10 Anomaly encounter frequency


D) Extra goodies:

There are following external upgrade in 2019 that work with my mod independently. Just plug and play.

1. Texture upgrade from HiDef 3.0 package Moddb.com. Just copy over and overwrite base/textures directory, gaining around 4 GB in file size that is more than 100%. This is almost equivalent to upgrade from HiDef 2.7 to 3.0

2. Sound upgrade from HiDef 3.0 addon redux sound mod, Moddb.com. Just copy over and overwrite to base/sound, File content gained from 230MB to 350MB.

3. RBDOOM3BFG seems can only load one mod at a time, not multiple. So my mod can work with user generated maps as a mod. The only difference is that the new maps may override my changes in base directory of "def" and "scripts". Following is the list of maps that works:

E) troubleshooting tips:
* If there is error loading maps etc, delete base/generated directory. Game will regenerate it again and error would be fixed. It is common problem and easy fix for mods. You should not encounter this problem if DOOM 3 BFG is freshly installed.
