Doom 3 is my personal favorite of all Doom games. Its atmosphere and creepiness are what made it stand out. Time to make it stand out more. With OVERZEALOUS, there's overpowered weapons, stronger and faster enemies, and more of a challenge with refined gameplay and balancing. This game is the Doom 3 we know, but faster, stronger, and funner. Experience the terror all over again with an improved and overzealous arsenal. Overworked, overthought, overpowered, over the top, and OVERZEALOUS. With weapon tweaks to change how each weapon works and giving them new strengths and weaknesses to make every gun unique and fun while driving players to experiment with more tactics and offer more choices, while still staying true to the original formula of Doom 3. New sounds for enemies and weapons, new weapons added to the sandbox, and fast-paced gameplay with buffed monsters for a harder but more satisfying experience. Are you zealous enough?

Post news Report RSS Overzealous Returns One Last Time

It has been 4 years since Overzealous released, but after coming back years later and seeing the flaws and feedback, you all deserve and need better. In this article, I discuss the new work being done to improve my mod and deliver a better product than last time. This covers the changes to be expected, my thanks and apologies, and where I am planning to go with this mod and beyond.

Greetings. Four years ago, I was excited and overzealous to begin work on my favorite horror game, Doom 3. Over the years, I worked and planned and modded away and let my imagination run wild, but too wild, it seems. Looking back at the major problems with my mod, its many versions, and the good and bad feedback left by users, I want to come back and refine my mod to make a polished and carefully crafted experience for players. I was young and inexperienced, but this doesn't excuse a poor, rushed product that other people will play.

Now, I come back with a promise to remaster and rework Overzealous to have better balancing, aesthetic appeal and quality of life for users. I also want to ensure that this time I will actually take feedback and play test this mod with other users in order to check for problems and weed them out before putting out the final build of the mod. My true intention isn't just to share my work, but to also make sure that I share my best work. This is the last time I want to update Overzealous, and I want to do it right. You all deserve and need a fun time, and you deserve it done RIGHT.

Current changes so far include a rework of some weapons to make them more reliable, balanced, and useful. For example, the Pistol's tracking rounds would either avoid an enemy that you aimed at, fly over smaller monsters, or not even track them at all. This is just one of the problems that I hope to fix for you all. At the same time, more changes and testing will be done with enemies to make a challenging but fair gameplay loop. This entails buffing some enemies' attacks that are too weak, and nerfing those that I made too strong, like the Revenant, for starters. In addition, changing up enemy attacks entirely in order to make every monster unique to encounter, like giving some of the monsters scatter blast fireballs, grenade launchers, miniguns and more.

This new version will also include the Resurrection of Evil and Lost Mission expansions with reworks for them also. As for the aesthetic side, I will update the textures of weapons to make sure that they're cleaner and nicer to look at, as well as the main menu artwork. Next, I hope to improve many sounds to make them less annoying and cartoony, and more satisfying, professional and refined.
