Dominion of the Sword is an ambitious project aimed at making a Supermod, we have a large team made up of several contributing mods as well as our own dedicated staff. The mod aims to maximize the possibilities in the M2TW engine to make a game with realism, historical accuracy and playability. Most of all we are concentrating on an atmospheric and fully immersible experience of medieval warfare and rulership.

Been a while since I've posted anything new so here I am to basically give you an update. Our head mapper has finally finished making a new "map_heights.tga" file, the product, the two pictures of Iceland I've posted. Mapping is now on full steam with nearly the entire map being worked upon at one time. Many features such as river ports will be added and hopefully in the coming screen shots you'll be able to feast your eyes upon finished & playable areas.

According to what our mapper said, Iceland is basically done and will represent a landmass to take advantage of for it's resources and strategic value. Our maps will focus mostly on natural strategic elements such as mountains, narrow passages, rivers, fords, and even sea landings. Speaking of landings, no longer will you will be able to land a fleet on any shore; as many of us know, this is not possible in real life and since our focus for the mod is realism, well...you won't be able to do it in the mod neither. So it will be up to player to make wise choices for victory to be in their grasps.

Obviously, this presents new challenges to the players as well as the A.I. will be promised to deliver an engaging and difficult experience. No longer will it be a blitz across the world, but a game based on the consequences of your actions. In fact, most threats will be closer to home rather than domestic issues. And with a civil war script exclusive to Dots the possibilities are truly endless. Nearly every aspect of Creative Assembly's, Medieval 2: Total War is taking an overhaul with some new features that are still under wrap. As the team gets closer and closer to the end, you can bet that this will be one mod that you will truly remember.

With so much stuff 'hardcoded' into ME2, how are you getting around these obstacles where others have failed time and again?!

You must have some amazing code-monkeys. :-)

Lucky for us we have so many talented people in our team; as the old saying goes, "two heads are better than one". If one person doesn't know a way around an obstacle, surely someone else does, and that's how we get around those limits. ;)
