DoaNE (Dawn of a New Era) is a mod for the game "Civilization IV / Colonization" (2008) which aims to significantly improve the original game that was a pale copy of the 1994 release. Always inspired by the historical line of American colonization, we are implementing our changes gradually, to make this game a reference in the field. All aspects are reviewed, modified or enriched to radically transform the game but without betraying the spirit of conquest and colonization wanted and liked by the players, while providing a comfort of game to make it enjoyable and flexible in multi-players mode. New versions of DoaNE come out regularly and always give the desire to rediscover the game

First of all, nice mod. Problem. I have 21 towns, each town has 7 defenders (7 dragoons or patriots). Yet the condition can never be met. What I did wrong?

In the next version, it will be easier to see what is the city that does not fit accpetance criteria. I should release the 5.00 in january.
Be patient :)

Dear Developer.

As You see, already february and we impatiently waiting your mod version 5.00 :)
This mod ideas like agricultural mechanism, life-like settlement foundation, a serious European business, a barter-based trade with natives or a cooperative behavieur king just great, as many more features. I love this mod, because give me a brand new game instead a boring, and simple-mind civIVcol.

Kind regards from Hungary :)

HI, thanks for taking the time to make this mod. Now the hard part. I need your help getting the mod to work.

I'm playing the disc version as opposed to playing through Steam.

Both the TAC and Werewolves mods work and play fine. However, DOANE and Religion & Revolution don't.

When I start the game/choose advanced/load a mod, I can select from all four already mentioned. with tac and werewolves the game restarts then begins fine, but when i choose either DOANE or R&R the game restarts but when it does its the vanilla screen with, in the top right hand corner, written in white the name of the mod. Not, for example, the screen shot of DOANE that you've shown in your images. When the game actually starts I'm pretty sure its vanilla ( I can't see any of the screens you've shown in your screen shots).

The mods for tac and werewolves are in:
Libraries/Documents/My games/Sid Meiers Civilization IV Colonization/mods and when I click on them I get assets, maps etc.

The mods for R&R and DOANE are in the same folder but, when i click on them, for example: the folder named DoaNE_v5.10 I Don't get maps etc i see an icon with a wheel/cog (DoaNE_v5.10), An icon with a sheet of paper (DoaNE_v5.10.ini.bak) and another folder named DoaNE_v5.10, its only when I open this folder that I can see the assets, maps etc.

Have I got xtr folder screwing things up, have I dl'd them incorrectly ?
With regards to DoaNE I first download to Docs/downloads, then extract/open up, then C&P to my mods folder.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm dying to try this mod out.

Even better would be a step by step guide on how to correctly download and install the mod .

Cheers

Hello civlover,
Your problem is easy to solve, you should not have the folder DoaNe_v5.10 inside the DoaNe_v5.10 folder.
Just copy all files of the child folder into the parent one. The delete the child one.
It will work fine (Same for the other mods)
For the next releases, I will create an executable file, that will do the installation automatically. Like that, no one will be annoyed by this kind of issue anymore.
Have a good game and feel free to ask your questions on the civfanatics forum (http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=367) I will be faster to answer you.

Well, after countless hour (in fact years) of playing - not just this mod, but maybe all, included a famous, and unbelievable RAR - my final verdict this.:
The DoaNE simply the best mod.
Not too fancy, not overdetailed, or full of it interesting, but rather confusing features, just a "essential of colonization".
The barter and contract system with indians, a detailed yet viable automarket, a border-influence management... awesome ideas.
I like the "era level up" system. It's look like story driven gamplay :)
A king somehow cooperative, not just a frustrating "give me, give me your last 23 golds" attitude.
Fully understandable why valueless in Europe a coat for example, and why more valuable a raw materials.
I love the "ship installation process"... you not just buy the ship and go, but employ and train a crew, buy weapon&ammo;. Realistic, but not overcomplicated.

I know this "Domestic market" submod. Very reasonable idea, if the dear M07 still developing this DoaNE mod, maybe try implant a Domestic mod, or made some alternate version.

Your mod a true flawless diamond, thank you for your effort, and keep up to good work.

Im still hungarian, so i beg for pardon my strange language :)

Thank you @Pearson.de.Saap, I will continue to develop on DoaNE. I am just working on a different project right now but be sure I will continue to work on this mod.
It is always pleasant to see comments like yours. We have tried with Dazio to make this mod more mature and realistic.
I had a look on Domestic Market, it is interesting, iI will be able to do the changes for the next release. It should not be so complicated to do :)

There's no "build colony" button for any of the units. Pressing "B" is useless. Go play Age of Discovery.

Thats more realistic. There is no way how some scout, or servant, woodcutter or any unit build a settlement from absolutely nothing with magic or something, but have builder pack with necessary materials on your first ship.
Furthermore you can load this compact "Builder pack" on your ship in Europe, or later you can make settler cart in one already exist town.
Your King also give to you a ship with builder pack - once time, a very beginning.
So, this is mod not just some edited stuff, but totally reworked, with many fresh ideas :)

You must need give more time for this mod before ignored. Worth it - trust me.

First of all let me tell you, this mod is simply amazing. I've encountered a problem shortly after I reached 2nd era though. I have a trade route to Europe with 2 Galleons and 5 (five) Naval Escorts assigned to it. And not a single Galleon can pass through that pirate. They're being plundered, getting repairs done, try to sail to Europe again only to get plundered once more. Even though it was mentioned that 1 military ship can protect 2 merchants. In my case even 5 of them can't do anything. I understand that I maybe doing something wrong, but since mod completely lacks tutorial or some in-depth documentation, I have no idea what exactly.

Hah, funny thing. Shortly after I posted this, I've found the solution. Just for anyone else who hadn't figure this out: It appears you have to manually group merchant and military ships together. Either group them on the map, or drag ships together on Europe screen. "Merging" them on trade route screen didn't work for me.

Hi, just started downloading newest version, but I've had an issue where when declaring independence my game crashes, has this come up?

And what is the black flag option in the ship purchasing screen of the europe screen for? it's always been unusable for me

Otherwise this is the best mod of Col, I love it, it makes the game a streamlined and fun game, not grindy and constantly updating your automation routes.

Hello wejin1,
I will try to reproduce the issue and fix it. I could be faster if you can give me your save just before it crash.

The black flag is unused for the version. Some versions ago it was use to transform our naval escort to privateer. But we have disabled this feature.

Thank you for the compliment.

Hi Fratelli Marconi,

I just wanted to say a big thank you for the effort you and other contributors have put into this mod, I have enjoyed it considerably.

I had the original version of this game many, many years ago and loved it. Sadly the PC died and so with it the game :( I then found the re-badged "updated" version on steam several years ago which i was stoked to find. I played that to death but then found a wealth of Mods on Civfanatics! I was a very happy chappy and even happier to find that it still lives on here today!

Thanks for investing your own time here in a mod for all of us to enjoy, it's much appreciated! :)

I am always glad to see comments like yours. It is really motivating to see players keep playing to this mod and like it.
For your information, I am currently working on the economic aspect in Europe. It will make the game really interesting for this part.
Europe will have needs and when players will sell ressources in Europe. it will have impacts for the other europeans. :)
I will create a Thread on Civfanatics about it.
Have a good game. Feel free to write bugs, comments on Forums.civfanatics.com

THANKS for keeping up with this game after all this time!!!

I have an issue when I select a unit then press "G" key so I can direct it more precisely:

...and G key hotkey is not working.

According to the HINTs "G" key should be doing stuff depending on the modifier key held and it is not doing anything at all.
