Allows you to undo modifications to the 'Interior Hexes' limit integrated into compatible shipsets such as 'Unity of the Advent' or 'The Firstborn' on a design-to-design basis. Recommended for use with such shipsets, but not necessary by any stretch of the imagination.
NOTE: This is no longer necessary in version 2.0 of 'The Firstborn' or 'Unity of the Advent'. Those use a different system entirely, contained within the DOF shipset support library they need to function. DO NOT under any circumstances try to use this with those versions of the above shipsets, or with any other shipset!
Extract the .zip into Star Ruler 2/mods, the game will handle the rest.
So, what exactly is this thing anyway?
As of r4180, ship hulls have hex limits defined by the ship type, and each hex has a static value determined by the ship size and the hex limit. This means that ships with a hex count other than the limit are inherently sub-par either through high prices (armor stacking to fill in the gaps) or low performance (too few hexes altogether).
Seeing as I prefer building my ships to a fixed shape, it didn't take long for me to decide to revert this change in my shipsets. Each hull in HLR-compatible shipsets has a hex limit roughly approximating the amount of 'Interior' hexes required to fill out the shape of that hull, accounting for a uniform one-hex coat of armor being placed on top of that.
Because this might not necessarily be popular, this addon comes in. Once enabled, you will see a 'Hex Limit Reverter' applied subsystem in the 'Hulls' category of the design editor. Applying it will negate the custom limits, and is not mutually exclusive with subsystems such as the Titan Hull or ABEM's Destroyer, Carrier, Miner, Hauler and other hulls. (If there even are any others. I've lost track. :/)
