I am sorry on behalf of the people that hoped for more. The download links for the mod contains all the files you need to continue on this mod if you'd like to. The uploads are as far as I've come.
I'm sorry for keeping you guys waited this long before saying anything, hope you can understand and I wish you guys farewell for now

Hello and welcome to the unofficial graphics patch for Crysis 2!

NOTE: Even with the releases that has come, the MOD is still in development, screenshots and files will be added and removed as the Update goes forward.

We have made changes that are both noticeable and quite hidden, but still there to give an overall more realistic feel to the scene.

Changes being made:

  • Shadows * I noticed many of the objects have their shadows disabled to improve performance This was understandable, but as PC's get more powerful these options can now be turned on and still playable on good machines. So everything that can have a shadow, does have a shadow. All the objects where this option has been turned off, is now on. Only exceptions are in areas where there is a lot of fake illumination so the shadows are being casted wrong.
  • Lights * I also see that some light entities have had their shadow casting turned off for improved performance, but we turned some of these on. I noticed that some lights bugged with shadow mapping, while others made no proper difference at all. Some unrealistic lights have also been turned off.
  • Vegetation * Grass and such seem to be pretty empty everywhere, so we added more grass and vegetation around the maps. Trees, bushes, grass, underwater plants and basically anything of nature has been added and improved upon. Shadows have also been enabled for all of these entities.
  • Textures * Textures have had some minor but noticable tweaks. Many of the textured bricks, layers and tiles have now gotten the Parallax setting enabled. This heavily decreses performance, but enables a fairly better visual view of 3 dimensional textures.

Huge update!

I have now successfully implemented the Free SDK assets within Crysis 2! I will now implement them within the game to further bring up the impressiveness!

Beta release changes:

  • Added brick sets to destroyed brick walls and materials.
  • Further increased vegetation.
  • Further enabled missed shadows.
  • Battery Park has had further additions with semi-random clutter and objects placed in otherwise empty areas. The level is nearing it's final stages.
  • Further added more decals from within the same level to other places in the area.

Changelogs Update BETA 1.2.0

  • 1 ALPHA (1.1.5) levels have recieved improved static mesh and vegetation quantity. Shadows have been enabled for any missed objects. Even more vegetation and static objects have been added for a more dense scene and visual quality.
  • Some of the fake light reflections casted off buildings and skyscrapers now cast an ekstra set of shadows for added realism.
  • Parallax Occlusion Mapping has been enabled to almost all the road units to improve 3D visualslization of textures.
  • More ledge-grabs have been added to otherwise non grabbable ledges on different levels to improve gameplay experience.

How to download and play

Hit the links below, but remember one thing! If you ever reinstall the game or verify game cache, you will have to reinstall this graphics update. Just exchange them with the already remaining Level's folder. It should work with Steam, Origin and standalone version of the game.

  • Crysis 2 / gamecrysis2 / Levels ""REPLACE LEVELS FOLDER WITH MY VERSION"

IMPORTANT!

  • You HAVE to have all the settings turned to ULTRA, as I've set all (or at least many) of the light entities to only appear at that setting.
  • You do not have to start a new game, but you WILL have to start a level from the beginning for the mod to properly work. Loading checkpoints from your previous save game files will mess up with the level, at least it did for me.

You will ovbiously need these patches before downloading our update :
* Patch 1.9 Update - 136MB
* DirectX 11 Ultra Upgrade - 545MB
* High Resolution Texture Pack - 1.65GB

Note that Crysis 2 Maximum Edition already includes all these patches.

Bugs and known issues

  • The dynamic ceiling lamps in the office building that react to vibration and bullets on the map "Unsafe Haven" seem to dramatically decrease performance when shadows are turned on, for the meantime these will be disabled until a potention fix is found.
  • Really long distance shadows seem to dissapear when standing a specific distance away from its casting area and slowly appears as you're walking closer to it. These shadows have been disabled until a potential fix is found
  • There is a really subtle flickering of the leaves and shadows on the trees in some of the maps. Noticable, but easily ignorable when playing in fast pace.

Performance

This update WILL have a negative hit on your framerate. I have tried to add holes to the map and remove backround cluster that isnot visible to the player, but most of the time we are adding more shadow units and more polygons than we are removing so be prepared!

In case textures are not high enough for you guys I've been looking into the MaLDo HD upgrades. If enough people want it, I can intergrate his graphical update with mine. The reason why I am not doing it is because my goal was to "safely" improve the visual graphics without the use of external modifications. MaLDo HD texture upgrade is definetly recommended by me, but for now my main goal is to improve visuals with what I have from the start.

Thanks in advance

We are working solidly wanting to help the community of CryTek and Crysis gamers for a better gameplay experience both for new and returning players.
We want to thank anyone who enjoys our update and are willing to help us out with it.

They used to call me Prophet, remember me

As long as you download this before any other mod, it should work fine... technically
