Crossfire: Dark Ages Version 1.9

Development

In december 2010 we have started the work on Crossfire 1.9 with the idea to make this Freelancer mod something very special.
Now, four months later at the final steps putting all parts of the mod together and creating the singleplayer campaign. The mod release is near and you can expect nothing less than the best from this new version.

Release

We have not set a fixed release date yet as we wish to test our work and do adjustments based on the feedback of choosen beta testers. However we aim for releasing Crossfire in May 2011.

So what can you expect from the new version?

Well the first and probably most inportant task we had was taking care of the player feedback we asked for when starting on Crossfire 1.9. Many ideas and prososals have become part of the mod and the community got also involved with our ideas. It can be said that this new version reflects what the players wanted to see.
The second task we had was taking care of graphical improvements. People which played the previous versions of the mod might say "hey - the graphics are already fantastic"... well yes but they are nothing compared to the new Crossfire mod.
Of course we also did many other improvements to raise the quality of this mod. One of these improvements was taking care of performance problems that some players described. Another one is the server performance which will be greatly improved (eventhough we already had a very good performance boost from version 1.7 to 1.8 already).
The entire ship balance got verified and adjusted, all capital and utility ships got rebalanced and improved. All known bugs are history. The entire Crossfire universe is much more dynamic.
New features and concepts got introduced, including adv. mining operations, comets, new physics, more realistic environments, alternative shaders, new effects, new fresh interface, new kinds of equipment and much more.
Additional features such as a serverside conquest system or multipart equipment are currently in development.
And then there is still the story...

The Story

The Story of Crossfire 1.9 will be introduced like in previous versions by different story elements. The Crossfire Chapter 9, short stories and the ingame quests. In Crossfire 1.9 another story element is added: The Crossfire Campaign. Yes it is an entirely new storyline that you can play just like the original Freelancer singleplayer.

Crossfire 1.9 preview

This new campaign will link all previous story elements with each other and tell an epic story starting with the Crossfire Chapter 1.
The Crossfire Campaign will start right after the original Freelancer storyline (which meanwhile got improved by us). That means once you finished the original story the new campain will start automatically and take you to a new adventure.

Crossfire 1.9 preview

Well, that is of course just a small overview of what we have done so far. The mods change log reads like a book meanwhile and I don't want to spoil too much here.
You will have to see for yourself.
Having said that I am looking forward to see you at Crossfire.

i dont think that they are confusing as they clearly state where to go or you find the quest item automatically due to the mods structure

I think this singleplayer mission edition for this mod will, when released, officially put crossfire well and truly completely beyond any other freelancer mod in existance.

Soon, sorry we cannot figure out a specific date. We are currently also working on the final hook code changes that are bringing some nice features to the CF universe. Something the community was asking for since ages... I have no overall overview - but lets say we are within the last 10% to finish the modding work.
Basically the new single player campaigns took some work - as they are now extending the story about numerours of years for the CF story (more than 10 new missions).
