By default, the game is using your native desktop resolution. Don't be mistaken by square main menu!!!
If you want to use non-native resolution use /r_mode. Resolution switcher in the menu is broken, as are many things in the menu settings.

D3D11 & GL3 backends are somewhat unstable. I recommend sticking to GL2 for the time being.

To revert settings to this build's defaults, do "/exec template"
A quick notice regarding included HUD files:
99% of these HUDs were made for obsolete CPMA versions,
hence they lack the new features added throughout the years.
They might serve you as a reference for your own HUD.
What they might miss:
- In-game chat (can be fixed with con_notifytime)
- Teamplay features
- Rewards
- Item timers
- Fade effects
- Pressed keys display
- Obituary
etc.
P.S.:
SuperHudEditor is a great way to make a HUD, but it's not familiar with new elements and features.
Use it to make a layout of basic elements then add/adjust missing stuff using text editor.
It also able to convert a HUD to specific aspect ratio.
Check out the default HUD (cpma\hud\defaultHUD.cfg) for all the new features.
