it's the new cloaking device they stole from crysis, it just hasn't been perfected yet !! lol
I always call it lazy game design when the player model has no legs. It doesn't take that much to give the player a body and it increases immersion greatly.
I can think of about 3 games that have shown a full player body. Having floating arms decreases rendering costs.
