OVERVIEW Cause And Effect is a story-driven, co-operative total conversion of Half-Life 2. We're aiming to create a world which, in an odd twist, contains zombies, scares you, and remains true to the realistic approach of the other facets of the mod. Your main objective is to escape the city of Braxton, that you, for all intents and purposes, have been imprisoned in by the military and local law enforcement. Using whatever weapons and items you can scavenge from the area, and using the environment to your advantage, you must keep yourself and your friends alive, and get the hell out of the city. You don't want to be the last one left. FEATURES We're planning to implement a number of innovative gameplay elements into the mod. A few (yes, a few) examples are as follows: + Unique two-tier health system. Incorporates bodily damage and consciousness into a system akin to real-life. Think Halo, but more realistic. + HUD-less. Instead of textual data or symbols, we will use visual...

Here's an interesting, and peculiarly late Hallowe'en update:

Not only do we have a brand-spanking new website (currently found here) and new, fully-skinned character and weapon renders (all viewable on the Media page), we also have an entirely new concept.

No longer will you play by your lonesome, trying to escape the city alongside friendlies with a mental capacity only slightly higher than that of your basic enemies. Now, not only will you still be fighting through a city turned against you... Your friends will be fighting, too, all the way through a multi-chapter, story-driven co-op campaign.

Happy (belated) Hallowe'en!

Looking great guys, and nice to see you're straying from the generic zombie image of a rotting brain hungry corpse.

I agree that not enough quality zombie mods are being released ;) which is why the shear volume of zombie mod ideas doesn't affect my opinion of this one. The models are looking great. *is an axe fan.
keep up the good work ;)

You know, just crying about such trivial things as the name of a mod proves you need a life, and to anyone that whines about "ANOTHER zombie mod," how about you take a look at modding in general. UGH, ANOTHER MOD WITH GUNS?! OH GOD, ANOTHER ONE WITH A KNIFE IN IT, RANDOM NOISE OF DISGUST! Shut your ******* cry holes and realize that everything's been done before but a lot of it you have to pay for. Mods, you don't. Now if you were to buy Land of The Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green and then whine, by all means, have a ball doing it. Otherwise, just be grateful that people are willing to put a lot of effort into making a mod they won't see a dime for.

Now onto the news post. Great media guys! The fat zombie does look a little bit like he went apeshit on some raspberry jelly, but a great model nonetheless. I nominate myself as the first screwdriver ***** in this mod. :D

Well, to be fair, we're pretty much the original zombie mod for HL2. We've been around for a while.

Stop complaining about zombie mods. :P We're all different. And we've been around for quite a while now, so it's not like we just decided last night to start making another zombie mod. Most other zombie mods began development after us.

If you were a fat hungry zombie, how do you think you would look? :P I get the feeling you all think he got a little too hungry for your liking. I will probably reduce the amount of blood a little to make the fans happy. :)
More characters coming soon. I got the soldier model nearing completion, so be sure to check back with us and see how it all turned out.

On a different not, if anybody knows how to rig chararacters quickly/efficiently, PM or email me or Stigmata. We're looking for somebody to apply weights to the models, so I can get them into the game for testing soon. :)

one suggestion, make the zombies more rotten and damaged in the face. The skin doesn't really show that hes a zombie right now - otherwise cool work :)

Yea, make the zombies more "zombie" like because I have seen people who look worse!

Media and concept sound good, though I agree about the alterations to the zombie model. I work at a library reference desk and I've seen people who look far worse than that in here before.

for the record, these zombies are not "Dead" zombies. They're the variety seen in movies like 28days later. So the rotten zombies will not be seen in this mod. Sorry guys. That is another thing that makes this mod different from other zombie mods. Most other zombie mods are working off of this "they're back from the dead, and looking for braaaiinnnnsss" idea. Ours is based more along the lines on a physiology change that will make them into zombie-ish enemies. Once they're dead, they're dead. They won't come back to life. :)

He's got teeth in that mouth; You just can't see them in that shot. That's just the reference pose. He'll have some more agressive poses once we get him rigged. ;)

Nah, it will succeed. We have a bunch of really dedicated members. We're all really really passionate about this mod and the success of it. The thing we are lacking right now, is a few essential members; particularly we need a coder or two, and a few more mappers.

We're making good progress. We have progress going on in all departments (modeling, music, maps, etc..). just no coding yet.

That was the big setback before; We lost a coder, and everything just kinda halted for a while. We all brushed up on our skills, and now we're collaborating once again to bring ourselves closer to success.

Just hang in there. Every mod has ups and downs. We got got through ours, and now we're going all the way! :)
