New mutant, and also a move.
Dear fans of BRP. It's certainly been a while. Today we return with news of a brand new mutant. Well, brand new to most of us. It was cut very early on in FarCry's development. The infamous Mutant Rear seen in a few images is making a return. Here are some of the main references we have. First this showcase of the Mutant Rear by Max Aristov.
Notice how there's multiple versions of the creature shown. Either different stages of development, or different variants.
Now the posed version.
These give us the best look at this very distinctive mutant. Just look at that neck. Actually that reminds me of another cut mutant. It seems the ones with the crazy necks got cut!
Lets take a look at the other mutant with this protruding neck idea:
I jokingly call this the "Mutant Neck", but in all seriousness it seems the mutants with weird necks got cut. Perhaps due to them being a bit freaky for a mainstream audience.
Back to the Mutant Rear. Here is a bugged version in game
And here's a montage showing the early stages of our remake:
However, this mutant isn't fully cut. There's an "embryo rear" still in the game files. Here we see the promotional image
As you see, this model is still in game. Very very bad quality, and quite creepy indeed!
BRP has been on Discord for years. It's always been home in the FarCry Lab server. But theserver is shutting down. We're moving all mods to the original Far Cry 1 Community server, founded by RoadKill years ago. For years it has stood for ethical modding and served as a friendly place for fans to gather and collaborate. Due to years of persistent security challenges, we're using the double counter bot to help deter attacks. A click or two and you're verified. We're working hard to rejuvenate the original Fan community. Join us!
The Embryo Rear can be found inside your FarCry folder. Open Far Cry/FCData/Objects.pak as a zip file. Then you can find the Embryo Rear at Indoor\props\Labs\embryorear.cgf and if you extract it and drop it onto the Editor.exe, you can view it.
It is ready to be used in mods, tho it is a bit low poly :)
Can't wait to see this guy in combat!
Indeed. We're thinking it's mostly an indoor mutant. We'll have to figure out exactly where he belongs
No way, you modeled the neck guy from scratch? I love it! That mutant has always been my favorite cut enemy in FC.
Great to hear! He's one of the most unique and intriguing mutants :)
Wow, that's amazing work!
Thanks Alex!
