Thoughts about the Nova replacement. Tell me what you think about it!

Following my drive to make the mod as canon as possible I thought about the buildable Federation vessels. You may be thinking 'They are all canon - where's the problem?", but I was taking it a step further and remembered the fleet shots of significant DS9 episodes like 'Call To Arms' or 'Sacrifice of Angels'.

My first decision was to replace the Defiant Class (keeping the USS Defiant as a hero unit).
It's because the USS Defiant was a prototype having a NX registry. Also, I thought there weren't any other Defiant Class ship shown in the series being involved in the Dominion War battles...I was terrible wrong.

To be sure, it took a look at those fleet shots and found a lot of other Defiant Class vessels:

It's not my intention to make things complicated, but somehow I had a feeling that something was missing. Taking a look at those fleet shots again I found what I was looking for: The Miranda!

In the past years of the mod's development I used to have this vessel among the other buildable ones. It was part of an idea that I was calling 'War Refits". War Refits were cheap and fast to build units without any special weapons and a lot weaker than 'normal' units. Soon I abolished this idea and the Miranda was out again. She remained as a map unit and an abandoned ship in the single player missions.

I was never happy about this decision because the were dozens of Mirandas involved in the Dominion War, but the War Refits would have made the balancing impossible.

So the Defiant Class will stay. Adding the Miranda as additional ship won't be possible because of the balance. Looking through the Federation units showcase there was only one Federation vessel that seemed to be in the wrong place: the Nova Class.

Be honest: Have we ever seen a Nova fighting among the fleet in the great battles? How many appearences did the Nova have in the Trek series? Apart of the Rhode Island variant only one. In Voyager. Another ship taken to the Delta Quadrant by the Caretaker. I mean, come on...

Don't get me wrong. I really like the ship and it's design, but it won't fit in the fleet. The Nova will remain in the mod as a map unit. The Miranda will be her replacement.

What's your opinion?

Right, the Nova class has a wonderful design but is it a research ship but a war ship. So I think it is a good compromise.

But about the Defiant class, I havn't also know that more than only the Defiant had fight in the Battle for Deep Space Nine. It wasn't me noticeable.^^
And there was more ship classes execpt the Nova class which havn't fight in the Dominion War: Intrepid class for example or Norway, Steamrunner and Akira class. Or was they built after the Dominion War?
