Someone needs to do a full version port over of Mafia 1 to the GoldSrc engine. Immersive, detailed total conversion Mod. Although short on gameplay, about 30 to 40mins long on first play through, I had so much fun. Fun experience.

"Bloody Pizza Vendetta" is a very original and unique 'Half-life' mod -- whose 'theme,' 'textures,' and 'weapons,' seem to have been derived directly from the awesome 3rd person shooter PC game called "Mafia," which came out in the year 2004 -- which game I own and have completed in its entirety at least a handful of times.

Vendetta is a 'decent-length' mod not too short but not quite long enough either. For me, the problem with this mod is the 'difficulty': Even on 'medium' level of difficulty, I found it impossible 'right off the bat' to not use an 'invincibility cheat' ('God' cheat) as soon as I encountered my first enemies..and then throughout the remainder of this mod. I feel that I am adept with first-person-shooters, and thus that my skills are NOT lacking.

As previously stated in a comment, I had avoided this mod like the plague. From the title and it's main picture, which is suppose to be the "face" of the mod and what gives potential players their first impression, it looked like a strange pizza delivery boy revenge story with needless bloodshed.

This however can not be further from the truth. Personally I found this to be one of the more favorable mods. It was short, but sweet. They used their own textures, their own skins, weapon models, sounds with even their own voice acting.

They had decent level design, although far too often I had found many a locked door or needless doors in general and too many times a sprawling open area with not an enemy in sight. In the beginning it was understandable as you were gaining your bearings, but as soon as all hell breaks loose one would assume it would be up to the gills with gangsters and bullets a plenty.

Also there were parts where the levels seemed to be too real and no actual place to go. I am not sure if that was done on purpose, they had at one point other plans but changed them or it was merely an over sight. Some times there would be more than one way to go or a ladder to climb for several levels but no real exit. It just goes to show why HL did what it did. It was made to seem like an open world, but they guided you with out hand holding to give the allusion of freedom. It really was not bad in this mod and only happened a few times, but it gives you the understanding why Valve did what they did. It fact it gives me more understanding of techniques from a mapping perspective and it is a compliment to this mod, not a complaint. Again they were few and quick instances hardly worth mentioning.

There were quite a few satisfying gun battles mind you however. And again their own chatter created for this game made the experience even better. There were an assortment of weapons, but I basically stuck with the magnum and the shotty. The rest of the hardware I hardly even touched, but that is how it is for most mods I play.

Bloody Pizza: Vendetta was so good I felt it could of lasted longer and indeed had it's own series on HL, much like the Mafia series is on the console and PC. But as of this writing I am not aware of a successor. Please do not mind the title and the childish main pic for the game. You will enjoy the experience, as short as it may be. Time to put on your fedora, your suspenders and tie. Tuck in your magnum and grab your shotty and head on out for some killings!
