Blood and Iron is a modification for Napoleonic wars set mainly between 1870 and 1880. The aim is to give the players a good representation of the era, balanced and fun game-play, immersive maps, and a generally good time. The third update is currently under development, and it will bring you lots of new possibilities and two new factions.

Actually, during this period a lot of Officers were foreign. Usually the foreign officers were war veterans with a lot of experience teaching the Japanese the European style of war, which they weren't used to then. During the Boshin war in 1868-1869 they were still transitioning from traditional Japanese Samurai warfare to 19th century line and skirmish tactics. In 1879 during the Satsuma rebellion a lot of officers were still foreign experts. That being said, I'm not sure if the foreign officers wore Japanse uniforms.

Awesome flag! Wonder how you will fix the ethnicity problem though. Would look a bit silly if a blond guy is playing as a japanese soldier...
Individual character faces are up to the player, we could force Japanese faces on human players but that's not really fair :P However, all the Japanese bots have appropriate faces (as shown in the picture)
Personally I think it would be better to add Japanese faces as a feature for that nation considering that the uniforms look rather similar the the French uniforms and Americans which "could" cause confusion?
Well, in some mods like the Zulu war mod, Blood & Iron, War of 1812,... the Native Characters (i.e. non-whites such as Native Americans for example) are given premade faces.
Excellent! Altough I don't think Ill play as Japan, it still looks awesome!
