Experience the consequences of the resonance cascade scenario once again, and play as one of Hazardous Environments Combat Unit marines, Steven Mills. You are not a survivor, you are sent on a mission. Secure Black Mesa Research Facility with the rest of your squad and eliminate any hostile forces. This mod is not a recreation of any existing mods. Maps have a problem, but there is a good PERSPECTIVES in this modification. I also saw interesting ideas created in scripts. For the novice creator, the project is promising

This is a review on Version 0.3, and not any later versions. As is, it's very rough and obviously still in development. The textures I feel are decent, but the uniforms in the prologue are a touch too new looking. That much is nitpicking.

What you're supposed to do isn't 100% clear, and when it is relatively obvious, there's no easy hints as to what you're supposed to do. I don't mean that there should be a popup, but there should be some sort of light or subtle hint over your objective. Valve (and Crowbar Collective to a large extent) put in subtle hints to what you're supposed to do in the level design. I got to the point where I assume you were supposed to get your crowbar equivalent, but I didn't see it anywhere.

The mapping is otherwise half decent, if the halls a little too rectangular and straight. Almost of the siderooms don't rewards you / reward you enough, meaning it is reasonably possible to run out of ammo. This could, of course, be just early development issues, and that's fine, but I feel it should nevertheless be brought to attention.

The voice acting is nothing great, and is serviceable, but again, to my understanding, these are by no means final. I ran into an issue where, if I ran ahead of the HECU in the very beginning, the event wouldn't trigger. I thought I had to somehow get into the gate, but that proved impossible. I eventually found out you were supposed to wait for them to do kick (or at least attempt to) in the door.

I feel like there is genuine talent and skill in this mod, but its currently buried under clear early access. I will definitely check this mod out again and will be looking forward to further improvements.

A very fun and well made mod. Love the feeling of seeing all those HECY with you entering the large base to experience the terror within.

Mod looks to be ok in graphics, I didn't get far into it, as the designer departed from Valve's version of the game by making the player just KILL all the staff. I don't like being forced into doing something I find wrong. In the Valve version it was perception, the Scientists felt that the soldiers were killing everyone, the marines were just trying to kill the enemy with some units killing Civilians. Just like in Halflife the security all looked the same, but to the marines they were fat Otis'.

This mod may have had more going for it, but sadly the choice to make the player kill the scientist is not my cup of tea. I was hoping for more of Remake of Valves game, instead we get another custom mod with just winks to the original like the Azure Sheep mod.
