Experience the consequences of the resonance cascade scenario once again, and play as one of Hazardous Environments Combat Unit marines, Steven Mills. You are not a survivor, you are sent on a mission. Secure Black Mesa Research Facility with the rest of your squad and eliminate any hostile forces. This mod is not a recreation of any existing mods. We will try to stick to the canon of the Half Life universe as much as we can and make everything believable. You will experience Black Mesa disaster from a perspective of the villains and even see Gordon Freeman in person. Report RSS Black Mesa: Military Chapters 1-3 released!

Hello everyone! I am happy to announce that the very first version of my modification for Black Mesa is complete and released! It took me a while to make it but I hope it was worth it. The first version, which is a demo, includes three full playable chapters of my mod. It takes about half an hour to complete if you don't rush it.

I've decided to release the mod as an early access so people can check my mod and see for themselves what to expect in the future. I was planning to release the full version with all chapters at once but it may take a long, unspecified amount of time, you know how it is with mod releases. So I'm giving you a chance to try it out in it's early stage. Also there's a new trailer released. So you can watch it on my mod page.

The first released version contains three playable chapters:

Chapter 1: Arrival - as the title says it shows arrival of the Hazardous Environments Combat Unit to Black Mesa Research Facility grounds. You can treat it as a prologue to the mod.

Chapter 2: Dangerous Facility: The resonance cascade already started few hours before you arrive at the scene, but that doesn't mean it's safe. It's more dangerous than ever as the disaster progresses.

Chapter 3: Heavy Fire: Continuation of the second chapter in terms of enemies and gameplay. The whole chapter takes place in different sections of the Office Complex from original game. At this stage, Gordon Freeman encounters first marines during We've Got Hostiles chapter from Black Mesa.

I'm planning to make yearly relases with at least three new chapters in each version. Also keep in mind that the first version may have bad textures, glitches etc. I hope not and I tested it but I'm just one guy after all. Still, any bugs and design issues from the already released chapters will be corrected and fixed in the future versions released.

I hope you will provide feedback on what's good and what's not so much. I will listen to any suggestions and definitely take them into consideration to impove the quality of the mod.

Thank you for reading!

As soon as I have confirmation from at least one random person that the mod works fine on their PC(some sort of gameplay, comment that he played etc.) I will release it on workshop. It's my first time releasing such a big mod so I'm still new to this.

Now this is something that seems to bother literally no one but me, but I don't really like when mods do this "revisiting" of areas from original game, and I don't think reusing Office Complex is the best way for finishing a mod, even a demo version of it. I feel like it may seems underwhelming to end the mod's showcase on maps that weren't made specifically for the mod itself. Sorry if I'm making a far fetched assumption here, I haven't played the mod, at least not yet, and it's not like I expect you to change the entire chapter just because of this, just something for future reference.

Those familiar areas you come back to are very short actually, you just revisit few rooms here and there, and it's just so you can encounter Gordon. I can't make Gordon someplace else, it would be very not friedly to the lore.

I can assure you, that revisiting such areas will be very rare.

I hope you will work with the environment because it feels empty and too large for some room in all the chapters, but anyway good work with all of this ^^

That's a complaint I also read on steam workshop. I will work on it in the future.

Needs a new name, but I like what I've seen so far.
