Black Mesa: Hazard Course is an add-on for the well known Source Engine mod, Black Mesa. Using Black Mesa assets as well as much of our own custom made content, Black Mesa Hazard Course will feature a complete re-creation of Half-Life's training level, including new dialogue and voice acting, HD models, textures and detailed environments.
I Just finished it. ******' Amazing! I didn't expect taking the train into the training facility while hearing the Black Mesa Theme that's been sitting in the soundtrack since day one yet never got used, it's nice listening to it when you're outside looking around at everything and just going "wow! :)"
The reference to the PS2 release at the start was the best, even better then in the original, it was so cool hearing the scientist hilariously going over Gordon's file - I almost had a serious case of death by laughter, lol-jk :D
The target range was awesome as well, shooting targets at long range with just a glock, neat idea - funny how I'm not supposed to be there, they all got caught off guard just because apparently someone made an error when specifying what I should be trained for, yet they still let me go through "Fire Arms 101" - Nice xD
The ending sequence was cool, meeting all the scientists again felt like this mod just said "hey, let's make the whole thing feel alive as if it actually happened for real" rather then what Half-Life did, where they treated the training course as if they said "hey, you know this is just a video game - right ?"
This mod is the best thing I've played for BM in a while, can't wait for the steam release!
I was really impressed with the recreation of the Half-Life tutorial mode and I just want to get it out of the way there are some minor graphical pop in/outs and the hologram character had less ploys then the black mesa models. The Black Mesa models have far greater detail plus it's a hologram so I wasn't inspecting too much from it.
Ok with that out of the way your team attention to detail even though some of the assets are from Black Mesa but that's the thing you guys kept it consistent it felt like the original Half-Life layout with Black Mesa flare :D
It was a very good experience compared to a training level.
Has it's own voice actors.
It looks amazing. (New models, good lighting)
Extended the original in clever ways.
Not working with the retail version.
I've just played this mod through and I must say it is "simply put" ---amazing---
The amount of details and gimmicks the Devs added to the hazardous course are brilliant and without a doubt this mod would well deserve to be an official part of the Black Mesa Steam release. It would definitely get my vote so congratulations on the developers of this mod.
-Fantastic overall experience.
-Brilliant mapping, lightning & texturing.
-Official Black Mesa dev voices in use as well as new unique voices in high quality standard.
-Minor and larger secrets throughout the hazard course for example taking shortcuts or blowing certain things up which will trigger corresponding audio responses most certainly a nice attention to detail.
-The recreation of the ps2 hazard course Area as well as showing us several new areas.
-A fully functional clock displaying the time you needed to complete the entire course.
-Works only for the mod version of Black Mesa (yet)
-In few minor areas little monotone some more scripted sequences would've been nice in areas the player can't reach anyway.
-Got really nothing else to say regarding negative things to this. :P
All in all a fantastic mod that well deserves to be part of the official Black Mesa Steam release. Go play it people!
Very nice. I laike new npc that shoot you if u try to kill them .Vey good light on all maps . Really quick loading of the maps
Hazardous course was always awesome and will always be
I cant launch the game due to i dont have the gameinfo.txt how can i fix it?
A fascinatingly in depth mod for something that was such a small part of the original Half-life. The maps are lovingly detailed and well lit. One of the small renditions I really loved was the added projectors for the Gina hologram, it just adds an extra level of realism to the course.
To be honest when I first took a look at this mod I thought it was a little overdone but it really feels like an introduction into the game world, the dialogue does an excellent job at making the player feel like this is Gordon's first day at work.
All in all I'd say this mod makes for a great opening paragraph into Gordon's journey. Keep up the good work.
Voices, animations, maps and assets are really well done! This extension is the same level of Black Mesa release!
The timer is a great idea!
My Half Life fan heart want to say thank you for your work team!!! It's just wonderfull !!!
