Battleground 44 is inspired by and aims to be a modern HD reimagining of the 2002 classic PC game BF1942. The mod will feature more classes than the original game had, and will also aim to do away with unrealistic historically incorrect equipment. No longer will British use American weapons and vehicles. Japanese will also no longer be stuck to using German equipment and weapons. All factions will be using historically authentic equipment, weapons and vehicles.

Can't wait for some proper naval combat in BF2! Will the other factions(Germany,Italy,UK etc)have their own ships too? And how many class of ships will we have? Is it just going to be bigger ships or are we going to have other things like PT boats, subs, landing ships/crafts and etc?

Yes we will absolutely have all of those that you listed. Only these 2 have been finished as of the time of this post, well including the US LCVP, so we still need to find a suitable Daihatsu landing craft for the Japanese. I just wanted to show these off to let people know how tirelessly we have been continuing to work to get everything ready for our first ever release. Still no solid release date yet but we are working steady on it. The only thing we can not have working due to engine limitations are pilotable Aircraft Carriers, so those will remain as statics. I am hoping we can still at least make them destroyable as I believe that FH2 CMP Pacific minimod has them work that way as well.

I actually like the aircraft carriers being static as back in 1942 players would always wander off in them or ram them up beaches like some kind of bootleg Gallipoli so then being static is a fine choice by me. Not that it'd be too hard to find the ship even if it was pilotable. Can't wait to see German/Italian ships! Especially the Italians since their navy is barely mentioned despite playing quite a role in the Mediterranean

I should also mention this since it is water related. EUWINPRO taught me how to use the dive addon from his mod, and it will allow us to dive just beneath the surface when holding "Z" key. This should make online way more hectic for people who want to escape beneath the waves to get away from weapon fire. But you will take damage if submerged for too long.

He is also working on a real nice all new custom HUD for us which you can see in this preview video here. Finally we will stop using the Battlegroup Frontlines HUD!

Some HUD features:
- Round bar on capturing flag, reload ammo and heat state.
- Hit indicator with move effect, thanks to AGM114D.
- Reload text indicator.
- Confirmation button on suicide or switch team, thanks to PR mod.
- End screen like BFV.
- Headhot indicator, script by Worldlife123, headshot code by AGM114D, sound effect from CODMW2 extracted by Ryan_Production.
- Correct widescreen HUD, modified shader by AGM114D.

Keep in mind it is still not finished, he was also adding a compass to the top of the screen like many tactical FPS games have, so the HUD will feel much more modern overall.

Looks nice! Also,a dive function? That's a pleasant surprise. I didn't even know such a thing was possible in the BF2 engine. Finally a way to escape those pesky bot's super accuracy while you're getting off a beach

It really looks cool. It would be interesting to see large-scale naval battles in vogue. And I would like to see the battleship Missouri)

Description

The Fletcher class was a class of destroyers built by the United States during World War II. The class was designed in 1939, as a result of dissatisfaction with the earlier destroyer leader types of the Porter and Somers classes. Some went on to serve during the Korean War and into the Vietnam War.

Main gun armament was five dual-purpose 5-inch/38 caliber (127 mm) guns in single Mk-30 turrets, guided by a Mark 37 Gun Fire Control System, including a Mk 12 fire control radar and a Mk 22 height-finder (replaced by the circular Mk 25 radar postwar) linked by a Mark 1A Fire Control Computer and stabilized by a Mk 6 8500 rpm gyroscope.

Ten 21 in (530 mm) torpedo tubes were fitted in two quintuple mounts amidships, firing the 21-inch Mark 15 torpedo. Anti-submarine armament was two 300-pound depth charge racks at the stern and six K-gun 300-pound depth charge throwers amidships.

April to May 1942 anti-aircraft armament was light with a quadruple 1.1"/75 caliber gun located in an elevated tub between the number three and four 5" gun mounts and six Oerlikon 20 mm cannons (two in front of and below the bridge and four amidships). In June 1942, the 1.1" gun was replaced by a twin Bofors 40 mm gun mount, plus another twin mount on the fantail between the depth charge racks. In February 1943, the fantail-mounted Bofors was removed and one twin mount was placed on each side of the aft funnel, bringing the total number of 40 mm to six.
