Battlefield 2: Nothing Held Back currently offers players with a wealth of new teams to play as, and equipment to use, more maps, and enhanced single player support. But this is only the beginning! The ultimate goal is to produce a mod where a player can play as one of many nations, all realisticly reflection on their real life counter parts, while allowing for maintenance of the original BF2 gameplay style. This, along with some gameplay modes just for fun and laughs and a gripping ever expanding single player campaign. Mod is still very WIP, version 0.1 is out, 0.2 release info is on it's way. Please note: Release dates are subject to change, in both directions...

As some of you may have noticed, there is now another release date up, at the moment we are aiming for a Christmas release, with New Years being the absolute final deadline, again, remember that that date might move in either direction! There are going to be lots of screen shots, pictures and videos (hopefully) going up between now and then. So look out! The main reason for this post however, is to raise your attention to a big issue! (read full post for more info)

This will also be the new improved, and much less buggy version, that was going to be a patch, but grew a bit too fast.

The main reason for this post however, is to raise your attention to a big issue (no not the newspaper that raises money for homeless people)! We have a LOT of teams in the game at the moment, as such, we have a lot of levels prepared, and a lot of temporary levels are being produced to let you get the most out of your favourite team while we slowly work away on our own levels. We realise that most of you will not want to download huge files, so we're going to split the maps up into map-packs again, which will let you decide which maps you want to download and play, and which teams you want to play with. Since it's all so "you" orientated already, I figured we'd let you vote on how to organise the map packs, because there are several different ways that we could categorise the maps. Shortly after i post this news pose, you will find a poll on the forums here, and a poll on our own forums (18thmodbf2.ipbfree.net), which will let you vote for which way you want the maps packaged up. The votes will be added up between forums, and the winner will be announced. You will be given good warning before voting ends.
You can find the poll on this site here at: Moddb.com

So let me explain a bit about how our teams and maps can be organised.

The Teams...
Can be categorised into 3 groups (hence the campaign coalitions when that ships out). We've got all our NATO (and soon SEATO) teams, we've got China and the MEC, and we've got Russia and the Spetsnaz.

The Maps...
For each NATO/SEATO team, there are 4 maps, one vs the MEC, one vs China, one vs Russia and one vs the Spetsnaz. There are then 4 more maps, one Russia vs China, one Russia vs MEC, one Spetsnaz vs China, and one Spetsnaz vs MEC.

Full Team List...
USMC
Britain
SAS
Germany
KSK
Canada
Australia (coming when we get an AUG)
Australian SAS
New Zealand (coming when we get an AUG)
NZ SAS
France
Greece
Navy Seals
Russia
Spetsnaz
China
MEC

Your Choices...
Option 1
Organised by Team
You will get a map pack for each team this way, and all four maps for each team in each pack. Russia and the Spetsnaz will be shipped together.
Organised by Opponent - 4 maps
This way you will get 3 packs of 4 maps for each of the teams you play against (or as of course), the MEC, China, Russia, and the Spetsnaz.
Organised by Opponent - 6 maps
This way you will get 2 packs of 6 maps for each of the teams you play against (or as of course), the MEC, China, Russia, and the Spetsnaz.
Organised by Dev's Choices
Pick this option and we will try and organise map packs of 4-6 maps, grouping newer maps together, then grouping our favourite maps together, and then grouping different maps together (some maps come up twice with different teams each time), while all the while, trying to give you a variety of teams in each pack. If you think that's complicated to understand, it'll be complicated to do too.

So, get voting people!
