Wooohooo! Shipyard and ships! So we will have epic naval battle now right?

Anyway I have some questions

- Is there anyway for land units (i.e artillery) to attack naval units? I found it's annoying for having ships stay next to the shore and the land units can't attack it

- How's the rate of fire and damage of the naval units? Would thay act like artillery units or something?

there are a lot of artillery units that should already be able to attack targets in the water. that's been a pet peeve of mine ever since I got the game. I can't say that they've all been upgraded to attack water targets just yet, though. every major nation has the ability to have engineers build coastal artillery guns, which is a good counter measure against most warships.

naval units can bombard in the same way that they have always done. the battleships, on account of the massive damage they inflict, will take 3-5 minutes between volleys. otherwise it would be impossible to withstand them.

Nice. Have you ever considedered having midget submarine? I had the idea of having spawnable subs that decay overtime. It makes for a distinctness for subs imo; Instead of directly fighting like other warships.

Is this real life? Or just a fantasy?

Since the docks have to face the water, I assume one would be able to rotate the building when unpacking it like an airfield? If so, does that also mean that it can only be sold and not repacked?

Nope, I made certain that they can be packed, repacked, and rotated.

Description

we've finally got a working naval base. it's capable of being packed up and moved from one location to another. it's important that the wooden docks face towards the water. it also needs to be close enough to the water for the new units to spawn properly. JPN currently can deploy merchant ships, Type B1 submarines, destroyers, cruisers, two types of battleships, a regular carrier, and a submarine/kamikaze carrier. we're in the middle of updating all of the maritime units... so these might get changed a bit in the future.

I've tried adding them into the Metagame, but the AI doesn't know that it needs to pack up the Shipyard and move it near water. so for the time being the AI will only use this new building properly on custom-built maps. in random maps they just can't figure out that they have to pack up the building and move it close to the water. they just keep summoning ships on dry land which die instantly.
