The year is 1998. You enlisted to Aperture’s test subject program a decade prior. As if only just remembered, your application gets accepted for one of Aperture’s standard testing courses. But what may seem like a simple hour or so taken from your day may in fact turn out to be a larger escapade than first thought.
Aperture: Salt Mines is a community-made modification for Portal 2. Set in the same universe as the original games, descend into the heart of Aperture in the year 1998, shortly after the death of Cave Johnson.

We'll cut to the chase - what's been going on?
Happy to say some good work has been made on Act 2 (those being chapters 4 & 5). Unfortunately, work has been slow due to a lot of team members being busy (more on that later!)
For those who might not know, here's some info on the mod's second act!
Meet BETIE (or Binary Emotions Template and Intelligence Emulator for those of us who like acronyms), the second personality construct for you to meet! We think you'll quickly grow to love her with her bumbling personality and occasional vindictive outbursts. Take comfort in the knowledge that you'll be safe in her 'hands' as you navigate Aperture's perilous facility.
What's beyond this door? Why is it burst open? WHY MUST I KEEP OUT? In time, the answers will come... in act 2 that is!
Prepare for some hasty movements with ONEKO, things may have backfired!
Aperture didn't want us to show you too much of these areas, but we managed to sneak this one through. It seems you may have to take a detour through some backways no one's cared to maintain in years... What kind of mess has BETIE gotten you into now?
We're very excited to announce our move to the Portal 2: Community Edition branch! This allows us to have better and finer control over our mod and amazing engine customisation for improved visuals and gameplay. We look forward to making the most of it!
As you can see, we've got some exciting content on the rise! However, we still need help to get all of this done... Our nanobots haven't proven to be effective in helping the team, and definitely need a hand.

hey, i'd advise that you change the moddb release date shown at the top of the page because the date stated is only for closed testing.

It's going to be WORTH the wait!
Hey! We are aware that our release date is very far in the future, alas this is due to our relatively small team and this all being volunteer work (it is a passion project after all!)
We've given ourselves plenty of time, so March 2024 is basically an estimate that could factor in unexpected delays and such (rather than have an early release date and continuously delay the mod)
This means that if we release the mod sooner, it'll be a win-win for everyone!
