Portal Remastered is a mod that attempts to remaster the original portal in the portal 2 engine. The models, textures and lighting have all been updated to be more in line with the style of portal 2 while making sure the levels still retain somewhat of a Portal 1 vibe.

After over a year of waiting, update 0.4 is here and it contains the first part of the escape (from test chamber 19 to just past where you re-enter test chamber 9). While Escape Part 1 is very close to completion, it's still subject to change with further updates so let me know your thoughts. This update also includes bug fixes and lighting tweaks for the previous Test Chambers.
After 2 months of waiting, the next major update of Portal Remastered is finally here.
Major Update to Portal Remastered (includes Escape part 1 and bug fixes for previous levels)
Version 0.2 adds test chamber 18 along with lighting improvements on some levels.
Where is the install instructions...?
Should be in the description for the file (you'll have to click read more). I'll add a readme to the zip at some point. To install the mod you just have to extract the zip file, copy the folder thats inside the "Portal_Remastered_V0.4" folder to sourcemods and restart steam. The mod will be in your steam library if you installed portal 2.
Nice mod! Everything is OK, but there's a weird bug, or is it intentional?
In Chamber 6, if I finish the chamber, the escape door opens. However, if I shoot the blue portal and go back to the orange portal instead of entering the door, I skip the animation of the door closing, and Chamber 7 will be opened. But in Chamber 7, the blue portal doesn't work, and the orange portal of Chamber 7 points to the orange portal of Chamber 6. In any case, even after the bug, if I go through the escape portal of Chamber 6, everything is resolved. Maybe the portable portals after the escape portal of Chamber 6 need to be made non-portable?
Video about the bug:
note: the video has no cuts, the camera automatically adjusts to look at the door
I can't believe I managed to miss that. Thanks for the video.

Really glad to see what I am seeing here! Thanks and keep up the good work!
May I ask for a slight suggestion though, please? This mod has some places that makes you wait for the door to open while Glados speaks, and I don't remember those moments in the original , nor in the sequel (aside from the deliberate ones, like "military androids"). Those are really annoying.
Portal 2 dealt with those by not delaying the door's opening, but instead delaying the time between the elevator departure and the next level loading. Portal 1 made use of the "victory elevators" slow speed to ensure the player does not skip the dialogue, and The Stanley Parable altered the length of the hallways to fit the minimal possible dialogue time.
If you could do something like that, it'd really improve the experience.
Thank you again!
I am extremely impressed with the updated appearance of the beginning of the new escape sequence. It adheres to the first game layout while looking exactly like I'd imagine it to look in the second game. Do you plan on adding the camera voice lines in (all the "Vital Testing Apparatus" interactions)? I also wanted to ask about the placement of the "whee" line in TC 12... In the original it was timed to when you flung from the portal after solving the puzzle, rather than after you walked through it? Other than that, beyond one or two lighting inconsistencies/missing textures in reflections, this is extremely well polished, and I'm hopeful to see how you endure through assessing the rest of the escape sequence.
every time i start the game it instantly crashes. Can someone help me?
Did you make sure to copy the "portal remastered" folder inside the "Portal_Remastered_V0.4.zip" rather than just extracting the zip to the "sourcemods" folder? I don't know what exactly would cause the game to crash but if it crashes immediately upon opening the game, you might wanna verify the integrity files of Portal 2 through Steam as it might be an issue with the game files themself.
so i fixed the instant crashing (for some reason i had to enable proton i thought that source runs nativly on linux) but sadly the game still runs a bit unstable and crahes randomely. thanks for your reply though.Your mod looks very good đź‘Ť
