The title says it all - this mod recreates Terry Pratchet's Discworld in Oblivion. The mod is still in a very early stage of development, so don't expect a realase soon.
For those of you, who haven't heard about Discworld, this is a world with the shape of a disk, carried by 4 elephants, who stand on the shell of a giant turtle. Terry Pratchet's discworld series consist of more then 35 books, and I can't tell every single story. If you are interested, buy the books (you won't be sorry). If you don't have time or simply don't read, visit this: Wiki.lspace.org
Here will be posted the progress of the mod:
Concept tests: 99% (only have to test crossbows)
Heightmap: 100%
Landscaping & Buildings: 3%
Cluttering: 0%
Creatures & NPCs: 1%
Quests: 0%
Interiors: 1%
Custom Architecture: 4%
Custom Items: 4%
Custom Creatures: 0%
I tested the maximal number of people on-screen in Fallout 3 estimated it from 150 to 200. This means that the mod is possible with Fallout 3's engine. I will soon decide if I'll switch to it or leave the project.
Fallout 3 engine pros:
+Custom weapon animations - smoother pole-arms and crossbows.
+Newer and more optimized than Oblivion
+More flexible than Oblivion
and cons:
-No non-custom artwork
I'm currently redoing and building better Library Kit meshes with new textures.

Hm. I've actually been making an Ankh-Morpork mod myself, but I've gotten alot farther than you guys apparently.
HEY YEAH!! Discworld!
great idea, keep it up. In fact I'm interested in helping you out..
I have some experience in 3d and I'm a huge fan of Oblivion and Discworld. so this is exactly what I'm looking for!
send me a message.
cheers
Okey listen me, your work looks allright but it seems that you're uh... New to mapping. There are few tips that i'll give to you because i'm tired. First of all i've started building the very same city for men of war a while ago a month, two maybe but anyway to the point, your work is repeative and way too repeative to be interesting, some parts especially and others not that much. But using the same building again and again right next to each other is a bad idea at veryleast so please try to do something about that before its too late, it's not nice to look at rows of similar houses when morpork is supose to be well more... blown apart kinda way and i've thought that some building are taller. Whatever i'm still trying this when it comes.
If this turns out to be good, I will worship the internet you surf on.
Terry P. is such a genius genius... His sense of humor never ceases to amaze me!
I wouldn't mind helping you out with some models ^__^ I always thought about making a discworld game (especially recreating the unseen university would have to be lots of fun xD)
Good stuff guys, great idea! Keep ii up
Here, gentlemen, is Terry Pratchet. One of the best creative genius's of the 20th century: En.wikipedia.org
Check out the new screenshots! The old ones (actually the first) were from a concept worldspace. These here are from the real thing. Constructive criticism will be welcomed.
can someone tell me who is Terry Pratchet? (i never heard about it, he, she...)
I am a very big fan of Terry Pratchett and TES so shall promtly watch this. I do second the "chaos" point. I hope to god this comes to fruition.
