Black Death takes place somewhere in Europe inside a small town with a dark past. This particular town was hit hard with the black plague during the medieval times. Inside this town there is a castle which the villagers believe that it held hundreds of citizens affected by the plague inside of it. Almost to act as an isolation center from the rest of the village. This castle has been abandoned for more than almost 500 years and recent claims tell how they have spotted people entering this castle and not coming out of it. One brave villager known as Edward Castman has decided to venture into this castle to see for himself what lies inside this tomb of darkness and figure out who or what is still lurking inside of it.

simple story, short play through time. exciting chase, escape, and RUN! scenes.

unique first person narration, i haven't seen that in a CS yet.

levels were kind of bland.

Well, for some reason this file contains three downloads for three different custom stories.

The first one, the actual one Black Death is your standard Amnesia custom story, nothing bad about it but don't expect much doesn't offer anything exciting overall, still not bad.

Obscurity is one of the best custom stories I've played which I've already reviewed and seems to have been reposted here for some reason. "10/10. Godamn, what a great story. Great atmosphere, custom creatures, which were balanced well for there to be tension. Some puzzles that weren't obscenely difficult, good map design, great voice acting as well. Nothing wrong with this custom story really, well done, give it a go! "

And finally Sudden Fear is a generic jumpscare map that relies on cheap jumpscares rather than genuine fear, nothing interesting; boooring!

A weird three combo pack, eh none apart from obscurity are worth playing unless you're a completionist I guess but I'd recommend downloading Obscurity from the actual main page.

Way to short but got me real good.

While there isn't much content in this CS (I was able to finish it in under 20 minutes) I have to say it was pretty fun. I also enjoyed the first person narratives added in, which in my opinion was an excellent touch. All in all, it has good chase/escape/run segments, but a really fast play through time and a sort of odd story that doesn't really make sense.

6/10

The scripted events were great an made me tense-though I didn't know if I was supposed to run at times or hide.
Story was simple and my character was stupid, I didn't like the guy I was playing as.
There voice acting which is always appreciated, and the fact that it was first person was nice.
In the plot I still don't know what is going on even after completing it.
The voice acting and the scares/tension were the best part.
Story was the weakest.
Everything else was, to me, meh.
That's it for me.

This custom story is one that many player that like jumpscares will like.

Little to no story, and with little sense.

The maps are there, not good not bad, playables.

Don't offer much, but have some scripted event that are interestings

Nothing more beyond that.

This custom story was so basic in my opinion, but I liked the jumpscares and that stuff. I couldn't pass the last door on the third floor and because of that i couldn't pass the game... Although it was fun, thanks!

This was a very quick custom story, only 15-30 minutes of gameplay. Now I have nothing against short custom stories, but if they are short, then they should be very high in quality.

+1 for adding protagonist voices, but whenever the player sways his head, it makes the voice sound like it's coming from a different direction.

+0 for the plot. It was sub-par, but not so terrible that I couldn't follow along with it. I mean, if the majority of the bodies were supposed to be victims of the black plague, then they shouldn't have all decayed over the past 500 years?

-3 for poor lighting. I believe it is daytime in the custom story, in which case just use the windows to light the entire room. Mixing daylight and torch light looks very awkward.
-2 for using the focus camera effect to show where gatherers are coming from. I've encountered hundreds of gatherers, and my first instinct is to turn my head in the OPPOSITE direction and run, not be stuck looking at the gatherer for thirty seconds, and not once but twice!
-1 for the level design, there weren't enough details. For instance, the empty bookshelf was obvious as to what it was (add more bookshelves). It did not blend into the environment at all. The rooms simply didn't pull me into the world that was trying to be portrayed.
-1 for locking doors behind us and requiring a key to leave. I mean yes, that makes sense when leaving your own home, but not for going into a floor of a building (if anything, it would be when leaving the floor of the building).
-1 for bad grammar in notes.

THE GOOD
The atmosphere was perfect, not once did I feel safe while playing it, that would be at leas 9/10, even 10, if I'm in the right mood :)
The poofers were really, really good jumpscares, all of them managed to distress me.
The levels were very dark, which added to the unsafe ambience, because you had to choose between either slowly going insane because of the darkness, or be exposed by the lantern's light when the enemy spawns. It was like the storage all over again.
The characters monologues were a great and original idea.
In one word, you managed to make Amnesia scary again

THE BAD
Even though the character's ramblings were good, the ghastly voices that threaten you were a bit.....cheesy. The stuff they said were very generic, and there voice was quite funny, which is never good in a horror game/story.
The ending didn't really make sense. You try to escape, faint, and wake up in a room. You say you're out, but really your still inside, and you haven't escaped jackshit. And then, *poof*, Mr. Grunt himself in person. I understand that wanted an open ending, but it didn't fully make sense.
Very many pointless, empty, boring rooms, which added nothing whatsoever to the experience.
The 'chairs flying around' jumpscares were bad, for I thought the game was glitching (which it does quite often), and weren't that scary altogether.
What kind of doors have different locks on one side than the other, or if that's not the case, where did the keys disappear after using them?
Lack of hiding moments.

IN GENERAL
Very good custom story, one of the scariest, but with a few mistakes, next time try maybe a bit more of the classic hiding style gameplay than the chase one, but make sure to include 1 or 2 chases too, just not too many, since the game isn't really made for chases, for the monsters are generally faster, hence the chases must be short, or they'll catch up. Final note, but this is just a personal opinion, don't include parts where you have to go around monsters, unless you are using a blind suitor.
