The Better Reticle mod fixes the oversized reticles and improves accuracy.
*Version 1.2*
The Better Reticle mod for Alpha Protocol is designed to make the gun-play more realistic and all around more fun. I've attempted to reach this goal by making the reticles for all the weapon types smaller and each weapon type more accurate, as well as adjusting recoil and stability. Although the reticle doesn't 'grow' anymore, you still recieve penalties for firing while moving, firing in rapid succesion, and blind-firing from cover.
Although these penalties can be reduced through leveling as usual, your base accuracy for each weapon type never changes. You will, however, recieve all the other standard bonuses(Increased damage, stability, lower recoil, etc.)
A kind soul informed me that since this mod breaks the core gameplay mechanics that Obsidian crafed, it should be labeled as a cheat mod. I agree with this sentiment. However, I also believe it to be an improvement. :D
This mod is safe to install/uninstall anytime. No need to start a New Game.
To install:
First, run the game at least once to generate the necessary config files, then place the APWeaponStats.ini in...
C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Alpha Protocol\APGame\Config
Then set it as 'Read-Only'(Right-Click->Properties->Check 'Read-Only'->Click 'Apply' then 'Ok'
Enjoy!
Thanks, the game is really better
Yes - this is why I made it, haha.
Works like a charm, and SUPER easy to install, BIG THANKS
No, thank you for downloading. I hope it makes AP more enjoyable for you. It's a great game!
Found the problem the other guy was having.
The .INI file goes into your windows USER documents (aka "My Documents") folder where it has some other games' config files; NOT your steam install folder(neither Steam itself nor Alpha Protocol's install folder).
I keep an atypical install pattern, so I was stuck too, haha. Thanks Mate!
Thanks, this mod is essential.
2 playthroughs, one with pistols and the other with shotguns, both always felt horrible because of inaccuracy.
They managed to copy the "worst" part of Deus Ex and actually make it bad.
