Concentrating on the late medieval period, Age of Chivalry: Hegemony replaces or significantly alters each of the civilizations in the original game, while adding a number of new ones, allowing the player to control Central and Western European states. Many new units and technologies have been added and gameplay dynamics have been changed considerably in this complete overhaul of Age of Empires II.
An Italian harbour, bustling with commercial activity. The port has attracted ships and merchants from all over Europe. The upcoming patch will include new graphics for many of the ships, all made by Carcoma, as shown here.
I suddenly got a feeling that I can only describe with the words:
"Drive me closer, I want to hit it with my sword!"
Beautiful ships.
A new version this is splendid to hear.
Galleys.
This is epic! I can´t wait to see serious naval battles with they.
Is is possible "simulate water reflections"? SOmething like does AoE2 alpha. I am curious with this new ships, is awesome!
Water reflections are not really an option for a few reasons. Firstly, I don't have the models of a lot of ships (all the original ES ones) and you can't make a reflection by simply turning the graphics upside down and mirroring them; the ships should be visible from different angles instead. That's not possible for many of the ships in the game.
Secondly, adding reflections is problematic because different types of water (or shallows) should have different reflections, or otherwise the reflection graphics would look out of place. This is not really possible.
Thirdly, I think in some instances reflections would cause graphical glitches, such as when a ship is sailing closely to the north of a shore: the reflections would then overlap with the shore terrain or even be projected onto the land. I don't think there's a way around this.
ES considered adding reflections in the early builds of the game, but I think these are the reasons why they decided not to do it in the end: there are a lot of practical problems associated with it.
Sexy architecture!
