Icarus - Prelude

Mod review may contain spoilers

I didn't expect much of a prelude, but this just tops it. The mapping was stunning, and the music fit well with the atmosphere. I know it wasn't about scaring, but that ending did get me. I don't understand why so many people dislike the map.

I will admit that I got confused at some parts. I died of the thorns because I thought that I was supposed to fill the glass jar with water from the basins, then touch the statue.

The only issue I had were some slightly misplaced objects. Otherwise, I loved it.

Poisonous

Mod review may contain spoilers

I like Poisonous. It's one of the better custom stories I have played. The story is believable and the atmosphere eerie. It really lets you immerse yourself into it. The puzzle where I had to rescue Rachel from the rising water was frantic and my heart was pounding.

However, I couldn't beat it because the ending was bugged. I would get the blackbox error whenever Rachel stopped talking after I rescued her and the game would crash.

Other than that, it's great. The only problem I had was that there was texture clipping in some places and that I couldn't finish it. I give it a nine out ten.

La Caza

Mod review

When I first started off, I didn't know what to expect. I knew that there would be something in the jungle, but I didn't expect a Grunt. When I descended into the temple, I knew that it was only the beginning.

The first levels were creepy enough. I was definitely terrified when going through. However, I was confused at some points, mainly because in the Waterworks I couldn't locate the lever.

The rest of the story was amazing. The plot and story is believable, the environments are beautiful, and the entire thing is one terrifying masterpiece.

This is the best story I've ever played. I give it a ten out of ten. Keep up the amazing work! And it was a very mysterious key given to my a very mysterious person. It was mysterious.

Unsterblich

The story was okay, to say it optimistically. I understand this was your first story, but it definitely could've been better. For one, you gave Sanity Potions. This is fine, but it tells the player "There are jumpscares in this story. Take these." and there was certainly jumpscares.

The door was bugged and wouldn't open with hammer or key, as people have said. I literally had to go into the level editor and unlock the door manually. And with the extinguishing torches, it was easy to expect the Alexander scare.

Overall, you could've done better. It seemed okay at first, but quickly went downhill. Obliviator, you get a four out of ten.

Gustav

Mod review may contain spoilers

It's an impressive story. The storyline was immersive and the ending solved one of the loose ends in it. It was well-built and well-scripted. However, there were some flaws.

The most apparent flaw was the monster spawning. It was in the right places, but it happened so much you could barely go anywhere without encountering a Grunt. Plus, you could've kept one Kaernk in the Sewer; three or four was far too many.

However, other than that, the story seems good. The ending was disappointing, but it also tied it up nicely. Overall, an eight out of ten.

Amnesia: Through the Portal

Mod review may contain spoilers

This story was very unique. The concept of continuing Amnesia's story was not a good one, but this executes it perfectly. The environments are beautiful and the story lets you immerse yourself into it.

This is one of the only custom stories that terrified me. When I got the Master Orb and had to run from the Guardian, my heart was pounding. The ending was beautiful and I will definitely try to find the secret room and get the one note I missed.

The only problem I have with this story was that it was relatively short. Other then that, you've done perfectly. Nine out of ten for you, my man!

Followed By Death

Mod review may contain spoilers

A great story. No cheap jumpscares, dark atmosphere, and well-scripted. It finds that part of your mind housing your deepest fears and preys upon it. For instance, the Dungeons scared me the most, because I have a fear of Brutes. (They didn't seem so bad until I saw one up close!) There's also very little tinderboxes and bottles of oil, and we all know that that means more time in the dark, and darkness is always terrifying in Amnesia.

There was one problem for me, though. There are simply too many monster encounters. About three-fourths of the areas in both chapters are subject to Grunts, Brutes, or Suitors (visual only). You encounter all of the monsters, even the Kaernk making an appearance in the end of Chapter 1 and the beginning of Chapter 2. If more of the encounters were visual, it would be perfect.

I give this custom story an 8/10. I'm looking forward to Chapter 3, and keep up the good work!
