I copied my original game files into a seperate folder and installed the mod in that folder. So, I have two different save folders for the mod and the original game.
I simply copied the save I had from the original game and pasted into the mod's saves folder.
Idk what's happening If your saves are still not showing in the mod after copying. Maybe you copied the save into the wrong folder?

I skipped the elevator ride part by loading a saved game that starts right after the elevator ride I had in the original game.
Seems to be working so far.

I'm playing on a 1366x768 screen with DX8 and i had the same problem as yours with only the original mod.
